Default power result

car made 610 bhp at 1.7 bar and also the same at 2 bar with 500 ft torque
u see the problem

well their is a massive restriction the housing on the gt3240 is too small coz of my 2.4 stroker measured down to 2.3 and simons was a 2.2 when he had this turbo so it was smaller and ok for this turbo and it made over 750 bhp with the same turbo

my problem is my engine is a lil bigger and it caused alot of back pressure and the turbo is struggling coz the housing is too small otherwise it would have been well over 650 bhp or maybe even 700

so good news their was more power to come but i cant get a housing for a hks version of the gt coz hks or garrett dont make it , so i will need to fit a bigger garrett now

anyone looking for a gt3240 for 1500 delivered pls

i need to buy a gt35 with a massive housing

im gonna get the bigger turbo fitted bros take it to 800 inshallah

what did you do about the gearbox and diffs in the end?

I am assuming you have taken care of them if you are considering blowing the cash on an even larger turbo.

lol not yet john im skint i have no choice i wanted to keep the turbo but u cant get a bigger housing for it to suit a 2.3 so 610 bhp is the max i can get out if it but i could have had 700 if the housing could have coped with it

no diffs yet and dogbox but my current gearbox is shotpeened with a ikeya shifter too

yer a fooking loon moses!!!!!

get the car back and stop chasing figures until the drivetrain is sorted , just drive the thing at lowish boost to give the box a chance. you will still crap your breaks with the power. build up slowly rather than getting a monster back that you are scared to drive or that onlty lasts 50miles before the box dies.

good power but FFS get it back in the car like T-UK (forgot yer real name ) has said. but why werent you advised the turbo wouldnt flow any more than 600bhp? simple mathematics to a tuner i would have thought or did you specify the turbo?..in which case i can understand there being a f*ck up!

lol kev mate, it was my fault, see no one in the uk ever fitted a 2.3 stroker with a gt3240 i was the first

simon told me to go for a 2.2 but it was expensive and couldnt afford it at the time

and when it was tested last night when mark shead and simon were mapping it, it was restricted, their was alot of power wanted to get out but the housing wouldnt let it

but im going for big torque mate God willing

Wink

oh right ok so youd be aswell getting it back in the car now then yes?

why do you want any more power for the road anyway? i feel my escort is antisocial for road use (hence why i rarely use it on road) as its very hard to keep to acceptable speed/ accelleration levels without alarming other road users

moses,

if you like torque, stick with the smaller turbo for and see if you like it to drive

what rev limit do you have and where does the power peak. you do not want it peaking too close to the limiter otherwise it might make the figures but not be that balanced to drive hard.

Wise words from T-uk re: peaking close to rev limiter.

Moses.
Are you going to run race fuel then from now on in?
I know you say your not chasing figures, but i'm not so sure.

If the turbo is more than capable and not restricted when you use pump fuel, why lose cash on the one you have just now and go for an even bigger one?

Going bigger will be going laggier and will be great in the pub and on track but not so much for road.

Even my own car has less power and torque now but it feels like there is a wider power band, so feels sharper on the road.

Go figure

Alan

alan ive never been a figures man, figures are for ******, torque wins races , im happy as i said with even 450 bhp, i wanted to build a 9 second quarter mile car, mines would have done that with a dogbox even at 610 bhp but i cant launch for **** i need to compensate for that and only way is 700 ft torque

i can use race fuel and pump fuel i have 2 maps on the car all i do is switch it over and t-uk is right i agree

but as sam would tell u i was always after torque nothing more and my revs were 8200 but now down to 7600 revs coz of the 0.1 extra stroker with a 2.2 it would still have been 8200 revs

mines not a track car its a drag car same as kevs cossie, thats why its all stripped inside, no carpets, doorcards, plastics nothing at all just a rollcage and a dash.

plus i stopped using my car everyday on the road after my mate crashed it , it put me off i only took it out yesterday and the fuel bill was 150 average a week so no chance using it everyday

brb lunch time

mines not a drag car moses..its a quick road car that gets used on track and strip...if it was a drag car i,d have soft rear suspension and drag tyres..i dont its always been on toyo proxes and uses the same setup at crail and knockhill ...i dont think many drag cars would go round knockhill in 58 seconds

and kev mines in sams hands would do it under 58 secs at kh in andys hands would do it quicker

john mine is an all rounder but i was trying to put it forward to alan mines a drag car coz i want it to be but i can still do my cash and carry in it

Moses,

Never mind where it kicks in, where the hell do you think it will fit It certainly won't fit between the engine, and the rad', not without without major surgery !

What's the problem with using the same, or similar spec' as Norris ?

how do you know what it drives like with 610 bhp...the engines not been fitted yet

moses wont want the same spec as simon cos the car would be ready quicker so he wouldnt have as much time to spend on the net

IMHO m8 u need 2 get the engine in the thing and then judge if u need more. I think you`ll find with they numbers u have that it`ll be nuff of a handfull to drive as it is

Handy thing then having the two maps. Sounds like fun.

i only took it out yesterday
So you got the car back Mo?

i can still do my cash and carry in it
With the interior stripped you'll get a lot of shopping in it....

Mark
That is one huge turbo.
