Angry problem 02 wrx

hi had car for a month and it has been in at dealers more times than i can count. The problem is with the engine management light coming on and im losing faith in the car. the dealers blame it on the weather . Sounds to me like they don't know what the problem is themselves. if anyone has had similar problems please let me know what the outcome was.thanx

Do you have an up-pipe fitted or an after market exhaust?

Ive got a similar problem at the moment with the light coming on and hesitation under acceleration.Checked out by the plug in computer and it turns out the camshaft sensor is showing a fault.Memory cleared (the cars Dougster, not mine) and the light came on again, got it checked and the same fault code showing up so its booked in to get the sensor renewed under warranty.
Hope it may be some help to you.

simon, i thought it might have been our good friends "drive" in falkirk who couldnt put a nut in a monkeys mouth !
Try Fiskens @ forfar the old boss man has just bought a forester wrx & doesnt get any problems from them
its worth a try

Sounds like your MAF or Lambda is on it's way out, this sometimes won't show on a select monitor.(if u don't trust T & C ,give AWD in perth a call. They'll check your car out for u)
One thing for sure, the weather ain't got anything to do with the warning light coming on.
Anyways,best of luck
Cheers

Try taking the car to A F Nobles in Penicuik if tht is near you (probably not) - thwey are very good.

STI-04 - is your car coming from Drive then and are they getting you an 04 model? Not long to go now - mine may be back from the bodyshop by then so it will be like getting my car all over again, after I get out of the Focus.

simon,it happens to my car under hard acceleration usually in 4th gear,it comes on flashing and then steady after a while, took it to NOBLE'S who said it was showing misfires but it was not misfiring, apparently their is a problem with oversensitive ECU'S on the 02 model,he is getting info from a re-mapper and will hopefully sort the 3 cars he has on his books done, also see the thread i started in DEALER ANS 3RD PARTY under oversensitivity of bug eye ECU'S.hope this helps, bluenosewrx(dont know how to do the clicky thing ,sorry)

Default wrx (****)?????

the story continues. t +c had car for 1and 1/2 weeks to change a radiater . realy good hey . on monday i phoned them for a update and they said the parts were on back order. so i phoned customer care. the parts made a miraculis apearance and the car was sorted .the moral of the story is: dont let the f...ing dealers **** on yur batterys!!!! . leaving dealers wondreing what was going 2 go wrong next i see smoke coming from under the bonet and i thaught the car was on fire . to my dismay it was only antifreez burning of the exhaust. i am now looking for somewhere else to service my car. i live in fife. hope thats the end of all this **** ... cheers simon
