Hi all,

Some of you will know me as T_UKs mate with the silver 4door Civic Vti, well I have just set up my first ever website. Feel free to have a look at www.japcarsmad.co.uk.

I would appreciate some feedback on what you think so far. Also, as you will see from the homepage, I am looking for pictures of performace jap cars (modded or std), I have a few Scoobys but would like some more (reg plates will be removed if not already).

As you will also see that the site is still under construction, it is taking longer than I originally anticipated, the main content should hopefully be finished by the end of the year, after that I am hoping just to update and keep adding to it. We'll see if that's the way things will work out though eh!

Cheers
Graeme

Site looks fine, those roll overs at the top need to be changed.

I am a web designer so I'll give you a couple of tips.

Try and always get all the information on a single page, i.e navigation pictures etc. Make sure all the links on the page work, and don't bother putting in links that are not available yet as people just get p1ssed off trying to click on something that doesn't do anything.

If you have a lot of topics in you navigation, try using some java script to creat a fly-out menu or you can use simple drop downs if you are not comfortable with this.

Create a feedback form so people can let you know what they like/dislike.

Most important, don't make it over complicated. Remember there are people out there that still don't have a clue about how computers work

PS Flash is nice as well if you know how to use it and has great functionality.

"it is taking longer than I originally anticipated"

lol, welcome to the world of software!

keep at it. listen to the comments from web designers - i am a software engineer and put together the technical aspects of web applications - its amazingly hard to get the design of websites correct, its an art that these web designers really know well.

good luck, and dont be afraid to try things out.

Makes me wanna update mine now lol.......ah now where did I put thet HTML code book
BTW Johnny I see your cars on the site already.... and thats before all the performance bits eh, getting in there early hehe

Thanks for the positive replies. All advice is welcomed as this is a learning process for me.

Boyakasha,
Good advice, I tell you one thing though, the single most item that has given me the biggest problem getting "right", that still isn't "right" in my opinion, is the navigation method. I have tried a few buttons etc etc so far and am still not satisfied. I thought the rollover buttons are the top were subtle (car logos) but not so subtle (blurring when rollover happens) that people would realise they did something.
Feedback Form, I have set up the guest book, temporarily though.

Thanks for the advice it is greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Graeme

Hi all,

Apologies to anyone trying to log onto my site at the moment, it is currently unavailable due to changing Website Host. I was originally with BTInternet on freespace as part of my email from them.

I have now moved over to lowcostnames who provided my URL. They were originally providing the Webforwarding so that when you typed www.japcarsmad etc it logged you onto my www.btinternet etc address.

Unfortunately when I signed up for the hosting through them it automatically cancelled the Webforwarding thus "page not found" when you log onto my site.

The other problem is that I cannot receive nor send emails as my Inbox on the btinternet server is currently corrupt which should hopefully be fixed by Thursday (here's hoping). Thus the email that lowcostnames sent to set up the webhosting hasn't been rec'd.

I have now changed my email address with them (lowcostnames) to my work address and they are currently resending that email, so all things good I should have the website back up and running tomorrow night.

Computers.....who needs them?

Cheers for you patience
Graeme

Ist page takes too long to load up. You need to test it to see what its like on narrow bandwidth (not broadband that is).

Ist page is too fussy.......keep it simple s....

BS80085 more like.

Cheers for the feedback, the site it only a few weeks old, most of the work has taken place since uploading it. It has already had a couple of facelifts as I try new things and will more than likely have a few more before I am satisified. I don't think I will please everyone but hopefully most people.

Thanks for the feedback and thanks for the photos to who have sent them so far.

Cheers
Graeme
