Well i'm but a young bright-eyed BP/TTE apprentice heading for the Miller platform come the end of next August.

I'll be going out there as a designate and as it seems there's alot of you guys that work offshore i was wondering if any of you had any experience with the Miller?

From talking to my Dad's mates i gather it's one of the middle-generations of rigs. Not the newest or best but neither the oldest or worst?

Got my survivial training early next year too, so tell me all the horror stories you can!!

I am in the forties field, just out of my designate period last year. From all accounts the miller seems not too bad a place to work, there are worse, believe me. If you want any advice regarding offshore life in general feel free to mail me as per profile, take care, Rab

I worked on the construction team for the original platform (on M5 and M6) the drilling modules. Its built like a brick ****-house.

Its a big 5uck-off platform, you should be OK, there are a lot worse around.

Wink

The Miller's full of Taffy's and the control room operators are very touchy. Apart from that its a BP platform that has seen production reduce big time over the part 2 years from 80mbd down to current rates of 20mbd.

Enjoy.

Carl,

Forget to mention that many on the Miller are very gay, and would look forward to some nice new talent like you. Be careful who you share your cabin with.

Miller....10 pounds 49p for a case of 24 bottles in the Dyce Asda. Get there fast the're going like hot cakes...well more like cases of cheap beer!

As for the rig, I've got to be fair and say it's affectionately known as "the gay bar"...well it is now!

I did a couple of trips out there working for BJ.

Not bad a bad platform, better than the Ninians. Food is OK.
