I ve been offered 3 so far, from Junners in Elgin, GTI Models in Aberdeen and Scoony Hobbies in Kircaldy. All between £220 - £260, lower prices dont have batteries for the remote and no fuel.
They come 100% pre-assembled, it would be next xmas before we got it made!! You just glue on the tyres and put some loctite on the threads on the underside of the chassis apparently.
I am also looking on E bay, but havent found one there yet.

Petrol RC cars are better than battery operated types, but messy, plus if you have never had one before can maybe put you off RC cars for good since running the engine in and setting up for cold start etc to the uninitiated can best be described as disappointing.
Having said that, if you persevere and learn a bit about them, ultimately you won't go back to battery RC's.
FWIW i've got a 1/5th scale Megane from about 5 years ago (amongst others)and is the biggest buzz ever, cause it accelerates from 0-75mph (not scale mph) in approx. 3 1/2 seconds. Makes for lots of fun trying to race against a real car...
Downside is you need a lot, an awful lot, of room to get the best out of them.
It's a bit different to 1/10th scale stuff cause it uses petrol, has a spark plug and front and rear disc brakes!! Honestly!

Sounds like a lot of fun.
I do wonder how he'll fare with the running in etc, he's 14 and pretty bright. Trouble is me and his ma are divorced so I'm not around to supervise very much..
I found one on E Bay, made by www.cenracing.com, looks a belter @ £155.

Another thought with regard to petrol RC cars is what to buy.
I appreciate your boy wants a Scoob (teach 'em young, that's what i say), but problem is, when you take it to some open area of tarmac, any stones on the surface are like boulders to the RC car and damage can and does happen.
I also have a McLaren (road car)...not a real one before the muppets latch on and one of those "big foot" type trucks.
In my opinion, I had better fun with the truck cause it can batter over these "boulders" with ease, plus where i used to stay had one of those BMX type tracks and to see the truck flying over the crests going round the "circuit" was immense fun. Always drew a crowd whenever it was brought out.

Clubby,
Try the model makers in Inverurie: Their shop was on the high street but has now moved up by the cinema, just by the roundabout there, I think they are called models unlimited, They are really helpful and I have seem a petrol Impreza in there for about £230. They also have a really good tank for £1000....
Say the " Tank mans Sister" sent you in!!! They will know who I am

Try.. www.Tayracers.co.uk . These guys stock all sorts of RC models including a large section of fuel powered models. They do internet orders and second hand items and are based in Perth.
