My Brother's just kindly reveresed his piece of cr@p white van into my rear door
There's been an exchange of words , but it's not worth shouting over.
Looks like I'll need at least a new door, possibly rear quarter panel and maybe a new front door too (although I can't see any damage other than a slight scratch, but the light is fading).
Anyone any ideas of the rough cost to repair???
Stefan (crying into my cup of tea as I type )

Thanks Pete.
Off to the Dealer tomorrow to get some estimates, so I'll let everyone know the costs.
He's the same age as Nick Wild was, so it makes you realise there's more things in life to worry about; **** happens as they say
I've now got my Brother's ********* in a pickle jar though

Couldn't make it down to S&S this morning, so plan is to go there tomorrow.
After speaking to Mark (Dark) on Friday I went to Protek in Bathgate. Although it looks bad, 99% of the damage is just on the rear door. So looks like a new door will sort most of the damage straight-off, then it's just minor damage to the rear wheel arch.
I took some more pics this morning to show the true extent of the damage to the door. Where the paint has flaked off completely, there's already surface rust starting to appear (it's only been 1.5days)

Hi Mark,
They didn't seemed to bothered with it. Looks like when the vans pressed the door in, it's just caught the inside of the wheel arch and pushed it out slightly; you need to open the door to actually see where it's pushed it out.
Everyone who's seen it thinks it's a relatively easy repair.
Just been sent one of the quotes .......... £ 970 **** me
It breaks down to roughly
£325 - Brand new door, weather stripping and "Motifs"
£235 - Paint Materials
£410 - Labour
Seems a bit pricey to me, especially the labour and paint charges.
What do you guys think?
Stefan

Cheers Dave, will do.
The thing is my Dad did the same to the front door last year
Any recommendations on which Dealer out of AF Noble, S&S, Drive and Eaglesham have a good bodyshop?

With a bit of luck u may get away with panel beating the front 1 or just reskining it. I had a similar thang bout 2 years back and from memory the total came to about £700 or £800 including a new wheel @ £120

I'd recommend Cram's of Kennet nr Kincardine.
Had my Scooby repaired last year, give them a call. Most major insurance companines have Old Road Garage as their approved repairers.

Maybe it's just the picture/light, but it doesn't look that bad to me. If the paint isn't scratched through to the metal/undercoat, then there is every chance that it may well polish out, after getting any dents removed by the dent devils people.
However, most garages will quote for a new door panel, fitting, spraying etc, as it is more work for them, and more profit.
John
PS I have seen the repair work carried out by S&S Services in Ayr, and I couldn't tell that the car had ever been damaged/sprayed, it really was as good as new.

John,
Trust me it's not the light, but the angle doesn't do it justice.
I can pick paint off (to bare metal) with my finger nails and and dent devil would spend his life knocking them out
He's managed to press the metal around the side-impact bar

As JohnS said above, John Spicer at S&S in Ayr is excellent. He even made me a cup of tea to cry into whilst they assessed the damage!
Hope you get it sorted soon,
Mark

Ozzy,
The photo doesn't do it justice, it looks far worse in the flesh!
Apart from S&S, I also went to see Protek in Bathgate. They seemed very professional and I had a good chat with Tom Pollock the owner.
Both S&S & Protek quoted a similar price and description of the job. I finally went with S&S because they knew the car and I wanted a Subaru warrantied repair.
Give me a call on 07970 062018 if you want to chat or see what S&S did to my car.
Mark
PS: avoid Performance Paints in Livingston!

and if you're insured with Direct Line don't let them take it to their repair centre in Rutherglen. Mine was done there a few weeks ago & it's going back cos it is one cr4p job. Not to mention the fact that they managed to scratch just about every panel that they weren't repairing on the car!!!!!!!!!!
I've got a list of 26 things that they need to rectify!

I didnt know s+s had their own body shop, but if you are going to ayr anyway try miles coachworks in green street, my wife did similar damage while puting the car into the drive, £700 to take out gouges in door, then sprey most of the side,if you dont get that the paint match wont look the same esp DBM like mine that was two years ago and you still woulnt know the difference(they do the warrenty work for local saab dealer so must be good),might need to go back though, cos she has also bashed rear bumper, both mirrors dinged drivers door, and scraped all 4 alloys, divorce might be cheaper though!!

D Noble
& you still let her drive it!!!!
£150 Fiesta or similar is what she needs IMHO
Ozzy
I wish I'd taken my Suzy to Noble's (Penicuik not D Noble) instead of letting Direct Lines repair centre loose on it.

My understanding is that S&S do the structural & mechanical repairs themselves and then take the car to a local paintshop for finishing.
I was 100% impressed by the service and quality of repair to my car.

Good job your brother is paying!
Not sure about the paint but the labour does sound high. £410 must be 10-12hrs labour which sounds like a lot when "all" they have to do is paint the new door and refit it.
Anything from S&S yet?

Just received an estimate from Protek. They're £250 cheaper than S&S. Next on the list are AF Noble and Drive.
Spoke to my Brother last night who said the Financial Director of his company told him that I'd need to claim through my insurance, then they would claim these costs back through theirs
WTF, was my first reaction. Anyone heard of this? or is he talking cr@p?
