read the leaflet and looked at shells site. it says it is 98.5 ron minimum or something although often higher which cant be a bad thing i guess, especially if you have an import like me. ive heard it retailing cheaper than SUL too which is a bonus.
heard a rumour that its part of a plan to replace normal unleaded and super with one kind due to car manufacturers moaning re retarded ingnition due to 95 ron unleaded and engine damage etc on all models of cars.
dunno though !!!!!

yip Wightey, its cheaper than SUL, I seen it for 77.9p a litre last week. I've been using it for 2 weeks now and car is slightly smoother. Same fuel consumption as SUL. I'm all for it.

Cleans those valves at the same time lads. Remember that if you don't really notice a performance difference.
BTW I do, and agree much smoother even from the first tank.(6 weeks now)

You might find that the petrol stations are already selling Optimax, but they themselves might not know it yet.
The one on Anderson Drive (fire station side), has just in the last week got a new pump in, and is selling Super Unleaded for 77.9p per litre.
I did hear that for a couple of weeks before the launch, garages actually get deliveries of Optimax, to ensure that on the offoical launch date, the fuel in the tanks is not say a 50% mixture of Super Unleaded and Optimax.

I've been on to shell for months now about this and it is finally making it's way round the country.
I have been assured by shell and franchised shell stations that although they may have had Optimax a few days earlier than their launch date they have not been selling it as SUL.
The Switchback garage at Anniesland ran their SUL tanks down 2 weeks before!
Again launch dates do not necassarily co-incide with Ferrari visit dates.
Now we've just got to get the price down as it should be selling cheaper than SUL. Glasgow prices are at 79.9p ATM. Anyone else buying for 77.9p or less?

Inmy experience the car runs no better than on SUL- and after running on optimax for 5 tanks r and then putting in SUl the car semed to be smoother- any perf increases will be so minimal that they wont be noticable- in my experience anyway!!

it maybe depends on what car you have. mine is an import and while i am not expecting it to be any quicker etc. anything that gets it closer to the 100 RON its meant to be run on has got to be a good thing. its interesting that some people find it alot better and some find it worse.
why cant anything ever be easy.......
