Was there any sign of foreign bodies that could have got through your intake into the compressor wheel or do you think the bearing went and the wheel had a 100000 RPM collision with the housing? It looks a bit shagged around the edges of the blades as well?

Hehe...
Lo Alan,
Fancy selling that busted samco hosing to me so I can stick it on to me engine to make it look better
If that fails I could modify it for use as part of a roll cage

I thought it might have been caused by something being ingested originally but the bearing is totally gone, so reckon either the blades stretched, touched the housing and caused the bearing to go but more likely judging by how it feels, the bearing went first.
The state of the blades round the edges were I think caused by driving the car home........
Your right there Andy. I'm glad i've got the front mount. Don't know what would have went in to the engine if it was the original top mount....
Scoty, I thought you wanted the pipe to make a side exit exhaust?....

I think the bearing went first, which then caused the blades to hit the housing and start the damage to the inlet side, but I honestly can't be certain, cause I haven't taken the guts out yet.
here's another pic of the inlet without the housing.....
and here's what happened to the exhaust blades.....

Tiddly TD04 eh?....funnily enough, that's what's goin' on the car for a wee while.
But since everything's off at the moment, there's a few other changes to be made, not just the turbo.......
Can't wait...

I can recommend an uppipe Alan, since you're 90% there anyway Also porting the remaining part of the headers if you havn't already done so. Or perhaps a tubular set ??
PS They must pay more at Tennants than S&N

Scoty, now the unit is stripped right down, the bearing on the inlet side is knacked. Fortunately all the ball bearings are accounted for, so no need to worry about that or search for them.
The bearing on the exhaust side doesn't look too bad....
Andy, cheers YGM

Ouch Alan,
That looks like a pretty sore 1 bud.
Gotta hand it 2 u though m8, u`ve never been known to do anythin by 1/2. What was it u had ? VF22 / 23? The monsta`s at the moment appear 2 be the AX series, going by what all the Japanese tuners are recommending, only thing is (as always) these are not cheap Talkin a mimimum of a platinum card 2 order 1 But hey that`s nothin 2 a man of u r means.
Good luck m8, I know u`ll do the right thing
Pete

it all depends on what you want does not alan?
do you want 350-400bhp? at what boost level and at what rpm?
you will find it is cheaper just to keep getting VF22s and replacing them. all the other alternatives are 1k and above.
sam
how about a trying to make a t3/t4 fit
