Default quick question re 99/00 ppp ecu

hi guys im able to get hold of a PPP upgrade ecu for my MY00 uk classic.

out the garden i have bell mouth and centre pipe decat

my question is can i run the double de cat with this ecu of just the one middle de cat as per prodrive upgrade.

basically cheaper than getting a remap which i cant afford.

cheers.

If you can't afford a remap then I wouldn't bother fitting a decat will only lead to issues

yea no centre cat on PPP classic, just downpipe. John does running a full decat not cause CEL light issues?

OP FYI I have a 97 turbo with Prodrive ecu, I run the standard downpipe with cat and a second decat, no issues.

Yes, I ran a full decat on my MY99 PPP for probably around 5 years (80,000) miles with no problems.

I also fitted a FPR and Walbro fuel pump and tweaked the boost to peak just below fuel cut using a manual boost controller.

The PPP consisted of a resonated center section which replaced a cat, a blue Samco type Y pipe for the intercooler, uprated ECU and back box (no sports cat on the classics)
Will decatting cause you issues?
Yes it did with mine, people dont normally run the likes of knock links on these so you wont see the levels of det it can cause, my car (MY00 from new) only ever ran super unleaded fuel, i decatted it and she started to get more noise (ie det), this was resolved by drilling out the restrictor plug in the T piece by .1 of a mil.

Realistically you shouldnt run a decat with the pack, it can and does cause problems as has been pointed out by Prodrive (similar to the P1's running a decat) as the map, even though generic, would have to be adjusted to compensate.
The best bet is a remap or just not to run a decat down pipe, not many people ran a knocklink when decatting these so the sound can cover up any det you can hear

Forgot to say I also had a Knocklink (and an AFR gauge) fitted at the same time. Didn't notice anything untowards from either.

Im running a full decat 3" turbo back system and no issues at all.

Every turbo forum ive been on and theres always going to be yes and no men when it comes to mods.

On all the turbo cars i've owned a Decat has never caused any issues. Apart from MOT time

Decat a new age STI and see what happens
Basically you cannot take the chance, my Knocklink was turned to maximum sensitivity like its suppose to be, it was a warm day and the car detted when opened up on super unleaded (it was optimax at the time), there were no other mods added other than the decat down pipe.
The standard ECU is actually better at adjusting over the PPP which is designed for the performance pack as it runs higher boost, but as said, if you want it done properly then its a remap, the extra 10bhp you may get from decatting the car probably wont be noticable over having a cat in there tbh, a remap for the mods on your car is still the best option
