Default STI EBay Scam in progress

Hi all

I have come across a eBay scam today, which is still in progress. Not sure on the rules of this forum so I haven't put in a link or the listing id.

Want to share it in the hope i may stop a decent person loosing his/her hard earned cash.

A newage sti is advertised in portsmouth. This was Brighton in the previous listing today. Ad sounds too good to be true (alarm bells). Ad states you must email before bidding or using the £4k buy it now. (oh yeah the current bidding on this listing is actually higher than the buy it now and still has 6 days to go......).

Anyway, i did email her and got a response back from a different email, no name. Basically email read blah blah I live in Sweden, pay through eBay and i will have car delivered..... Right!

I've reported the ad but just wanted to air my concern in the hope i can stop someone paying out for something that very likely doesn't exist.

Keep ya wits about you peeps

Hang on, I brought it too.... Lol
£4K for a DCCD model. Bargain

It annoys me that people have the cheek to scam people and there is little we can do to stop it.
Just read the details and it clearly says no delivery or returns. So if someone did pay out, there is nothing eBay could do.

Ebay don't give a monkeys. I found a scam on there whilst looking for a car. The guy wouldn't even let me look at it until I had paid into Ebays so called holding account. I checked the sort code and it was in Luton, so I emailed ebay to let them know, nothing then I called them and all they could say was it was a legit account even though I had told them about the false ebay holding account and they still wouldn't take the car off ebay. All their interested in is making money full stop.

The ad's got removed late last night. I had both listings in my watch list, and both are no longer there. I guess ebay did look into the report.

Thought I would share the e-mail I got back from the so called seller:

"Hi there,

First of all I want to thank you for showing interest in my vehicle.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the car - it is in great condition, it has full service history and HPI clear. My husband bought it for me. In 2010 he was diagnosed with the dreaded cancer, but sadly he lost his battle and passed away in the August. The final price that I want for this car is £ 4,000 (including shipping and handling). Along with my daughter decided to sell the house and we moved to my sister in Stockholm, Sweden. The vehicle is being stored in London,UK. Unfortunately I can't conclude this transaction personally due to work commitments. The deal will go strictly according to eBay rules.

Thank you !"

Cold....
