the car has a few track mods (coilovers 8 pots etc)and is mech sound fresh oils and brake fluid)was more too see how reliable they are tbh,i know the box is the weak point and that will be the hold back at the mo.but have read the late 55 plate boxes were better?(still not a 6 speed lol)but other than that its just trial and error then lol

I was thinking about doing one of these myself
I used to own an Accord Type R, which for 3 years was driven fairly hard on an off the track. And in those 3 years, it never missed a beat. Absolute gem of an engine.
I get the feeling the WRX doesn't hold the same traits as its reputation suggests, as a rally car? The STI yes, but not the WRX.
I have myself one of the last WRX Bugeye's they did. Its only done 55k and the oil gets changed every 3 months like clock work regardless of miles, with millers 10w50 nanodrive.
Its also had a fair few mods to it, circ 340/340 power.
The STI is built for it. Brakes, suspension, gearbox. Much tougher engine internals etc etc.
As much as id love to do a track day, even though i think mines mechanically tip top. I dont think a WRX is up to the task of being thrashed for a few hours.
which is abit of a pisser

I've done a couple and the main thing to look out for are how shafted your tyres and pads get. I'd recommend changing them if poss. Wrx brakes can fade pretty quick so do open pit lane, nail a few laps and let her cool off. I haven't got gauges but my friend recommended keeping a close eye on the oil temp to tell him when to take a breather.

Done quite a few days myself, started off in my completely stock 05 Sti.
Now have BC coilovers, CL5+ pads and remap.
Unless you've got up-rated brake pads & fresh fluid it will ruin your day very quickly, make sure you keep an eye on the usual stuff like tyre pressures, fluid levels etc

Luckily it was just a 20min session at Trax that I'd paid for. £100+ for a trackday would have been gutting.
I've only done one full day at Cadwell, but my shopping list since has been:
- Gauges, need to keep an eye on oil temp and pressure. [fitted today]
- Baffle Plate. [at my next oil change in March time]
- Oil Cooler. [may do at next oil change, alternatively will keep an eye on gauges for now]
I've got coilovers, and had R888 tyres - but I'd seriously rank brake pads above all of those. It WILL ruin your day if they go off in 10mins!

Can't stress this enough, I did 3 laps of Silverstone National and raped my almost new Kevlar pads. Drive home was scary, no chance of any more track time.

Also don't think you have to fly round the track all day, I do a warm up lap then 4-5 laps, then a cool down lap then come in for half an hour or so and have a drink. Check your tyre pressures before you go out the first time and check them throughout the day as they can get high and require letting down a bit.
I learnt the hard/expensive way about some of the things mentioned by Fonzey after destroying my engine at Spa, I now have everything mentioned above and more.
