Ffs! Getting fed up with the pile now! Fix one thing. Find another.. Breaking soon!
Ok, i broke the gearbox before xmas, got another with exact same nimber on the white sticker. Fitted it along with some brembos off an sti.
Needed wheel spacers to fit the wheels over the brakes. Done that tonight and put the wheels on in the pissing rain and fired it up to take for test drive...
I had a sound that was roational, thout it was the **** shields rubbing on the bigger discs, as when i stopped asson as i could there were big rusty bits on the wheel. So drove on a short distance to try and get the surface rust off the discs incase it was them as they are grooved discs.
Noise still there, starts at about 5mph and i done about 30 max. Turned around and went home pissed off...
Opened the door while driving and then the noise is clearly coming from the rear, its a clicking sound so obviously the rear diff.
I did get the diff with the box so will have to **** about swapping that over now, but the weather is bad for the forseable!
Goddammit. Rapidly loosing interest in the car now!
I suppose its a royal pain in the *** to change the diff? Car is bug uk300

It wasn't gremlins (or trolls) that drove M3 away from the marque, it was newly discovered achievable increases in MPG. Not only are chavs now killing the Imp image old ladies can now afford to run this economical machine.

What discs have you fitted on the rear any pics ? grooved ? as these can click.
When I fitted mine, and posted pics on here got some ribbing saying I had fitted them backwards, then when the supplier posted saying mine are correct got pm's asking about if mine clicked (sounding like a train on a track) which they did not, then pm's saying they had changed disc sides and clicking has gone (just an idea)

just the std setup on the rear mate. i thought it could have been the fronts as the discs were quite rusty (been off the car a year or so) so just needed cleaning up.
but when the door is open its deffo coming from the back. also the noise does not change under braking...
i finish work at 12, the missus and kids are out and at the mo its not raining! so ill get home and get it up on stands... again...

Ok, so i go out to jack it up. There is engine oil on the road near the front wheel. Now it wasnt leaking before i took the box out but the osf cam cover was a bit wet with oil when i took the airbox out, so gave it a wipe over. This was between the coilpacks.
Anyway, get all 4 wheels off the ground and put it in gear. Click click click etc.
Coming from the osf wheel... Tuns out i guess when levering the ball joint out the hub id bent the very corner of the ****shield over and it was touching the disc and indeed clicking against the grooves.
So that was that sorted. Fired it up again, yeah no funny noises!
Just oil pissing out onto the ****ing uppipe!
FFS this really is it!. Got torch out and i could just about see a mist of oil spraying out from the lower half moon, litterally touched it with my finger and it fell into the head. Then oil just pissed out. Car was off at this point btw.
So, it now looks like an engine out job to sort that. I guess you could do it in situ but it looks so tight that you wont get it on easily.
If i take the engine out i wont stop and strip the c*nting thing.
I cant remember from when i asked before what the average return off a uk300 but hope to clear 2-2.5k off it.
Properly had enough now. Unfortunatly the exhaust wasnt hot enough for it to catch fire!

Half moon on cam cover? Thats easy job with engine in. Just take air box out and use a small halfords socket set or similar. Only need a small 10 mm spanner for one or two bolts.
Also buy new bolts and washers as old bolts can snap and that is engine out time.
Import car parts sell everything you need.:-)
