always a danger of that backfiring on them though.. if it were me, providing i wasnt seriously overdoing (im thinking if i were driving around fairly normally and not trying to make as much noise as possible) id go and remove the catback or run it open DP and make a **** ton more noise or if the cars mapped with antilag then hit the antilag a few times. id stick a reply note on that letter explaining im not deliberately trying to make tons of noise but as you think i am i will demonstrate what tons of noise is.. teach them to mind their own business.

though in fairness by whats said in that note it sounds more like the driver is trying to make as much of a racket as he can so in that case he deserved it.

An iconic car built for a purpose. Not driving round Benefit Street impressing yoofs!

Do the Volvo Forums appreciate un-chavved, non chav valve, stickered up tat cars?

Reeeevvvvv .. pause.. BANG
He will just drive around making shotgun noises for hours! The guy must have a cast iron drainpipe for an exhaust because otherwise it would have blown apart months ago for sure.
A loud exhaust or a dump valve is one thing but this guy takes the cake.
Got one here too. Wonder if it's the same one

Exactly, Impreza owners want a little taste of Rally so they either buy a loud backbox or large sticker.

Volvo owners on the other hand help an old lady across the street or do their Neigbourhood watch thing reporting anti-social drivers to hint at what it would be like to be an officer of the law.

My friend's B5 S4 does this when he flat shifts but that's not at low speeds (obviously). Sounds like a rifle crack......scared the crap out of many a froggie whilst we were tunnel running in Europe!

Fair play, must be annoying when your not into cars and all you hear is the drone of a loud exhaust at night when trying to get to sleep!!

Must say, back in 2004(when I was 20, young & stupid) and I had my first subaru which was fitted with a dump valve(previous owner) I pulled up to some lights with my windows down, and a oldish women pulled next to me, and starting doing the pshhh, pshhh(dump valve sound) and laughing at me. I felt like a right idiot, and to be fair when you see it from someone else's point of view, who would not no what it is, it does sound stupid!!

As said on here before someone needs to roll under car and fit the spark plug to the fuel tank
Then it would be funny for everyone

think the trick for making older cars backfire, particularly ones pre-cat or pre 1992 with a decat and exhaust is to rev it (heard it works best when accelerating in gear with engine loaded) and turn the ignition off and back on again with the key.

here we go.. made this especially for scoobynet

Get the proper version and not the wrx and you will get a better driving car to amuse you without the pssst noise.

If I got an STI I'd have to lose the VTA and get a pop and bang map.

A pisssh and overfuel on the over-run is nowhere near as cool or quiet as a fart, bang, pop and overfuel.

Dunno why folks just don't put a stiffer spring in their d.valve so it only opens on country roads/strip/or track. That way we can all have one to help release our inner-child. M3 should definitely get one to save our eyes from his childish forum vitriol.

I don't even have a turbo so why would I need a dump valve cess pit??
