Ill stick with the older one that was more about power/torque/drivability/fun/etc thanks ...... your welcome to the one driven by emissions/economy/politicians if ya fancy.
2.5 also available in the GR series Imprezas in Japan as an option, most commonly seen on the "A-line" versions (their equivalent of a Spec D) and mated to an automatic transmission.
The thought of an automatic STi is quite a horrible one to me.
Does nothing for me, interior looks nice but the bonnet and wings are horrid, still no lift back/5th door makes it totally useless to the vast majority of middle class 30+ family men who can afford it, one step forward and two back.
Subaru are a bunch of idiots, they have one of if not the best all-round vehicle with no idea how to package it or who the target market should be.
I predict a flop with pi55 poor sales on this side of the pond guaranteed, they are spending way too much time worrying about BMW and trying to compete with them when they should be trying to exploit their niche in the market and play to their own strengths.
Yes I could live with that in the fleet
As long as there is a five year warrenty and a guarantee if no chocolate pistons
Then I could return to but my retirement car
The US had the 2.5 NA fitted to their Classic Imprezas from about 1997.
Yes the 2.5 RS model I believe, I was just answering the OP's question about the 2.5 but for the newage as I got the impression that he was talking about us getting the 2.5 and Japan not (for the base models).

Subaru Collector 555.

I'm well aware of the engines, my post was regarding the newer cars going back to a 2.0 engine unlike the 2.5 that started in 2006 onwards uk cars and chocolate pistons etc, so basically I think Subaru must know the issue but never admitted anything was wrong with the 2.5.
And they 'might' bring into uk market but nothing's concrete yet.
I know the jdm have the best out of the bunch, but they always do in all cars they make, it's export that they don't give 2 hoots about.

I meant Deanb1980 sorry for the confusion.
I noticed that Prodrive sold forged pistons for the 2.5 around that time, as when they had a big clear out a few years ago that was one of them on the list.
The Fb engine is supposed to deliver the performance us enthusiasts 'strive' for but also a better fuel efficiency.
