Smile STi hatchback (2007-2011) buying tips

I am compiling an STi Hatchback Buyer's Guide for Japanese Performance magazine and wondered if those in the know might highlight the main buying issues on this model for me?

A few quick bullets in the key areas please (bodywork, engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, wheels etc.) would be much appreciated - and yes, I am aware that the engine alledgedly appears to have a major issue!

Many thanks in anticipation,

Guy Baker

Advise your readers to buy a classic or the 2011 onwards saloon 😃

And I read the pair of your comments
Well done

Maybe for a buyers guide put on the engine failure link to scoobynet
That would ensure the values will plummet as no one will want them.

I'd like to point out that our shores saw the release of the fastest and most capable Impreza to date in the shape of Cosworth's CS400.

Forged engine that doesn't explode and a host of upgrades including the brakes and suspension.

The hatchback model is a great base for tuning as forging the engine and fitting a decent set of coilovers and ALK makes it an absolute monster on a B road and gives it the punch to compete with German saloons in a straight line. Oh, and reliable too!

Gents - if you prefer you could PM any tips to me rather than post here. Or you can email me on guybakercars@gmail.com.

Many thanks,

Guy.
