Default DCCD or no?

Is there any need to by a 05 car with the manual DCCD or is there no point in it and should just get a tidy 03/04 car without it? What is it for really and us there any need to have a car with it?

The later car is wide track and has updated interior too. If you can afford a later car then its a no brainer to go for one over an earlier car.
However, if budget is tight id rather have a lovely 04 car over a rough 05 one.

I've got the widetrack 05 with dccd, I don't fettle with it much although its good for fast road driving to find your favourite setting, makes the car handle to your driving style a lot better,

Just bumbling round I leave it in auto!!

I'd get the newer vehicle for the better interior, but for DCCD itself I wouldn't worry, DCCD is only of use if you want to do lots of doughnuts in the snow.

The widetrack is the one to have if you can.

There are some rare import widetracks without DCCD, they tend to come from places such as Malta.

I got me one of those Maltese imports. All the goodies of the widetrack minus the DCCD. Bit of a weird one as I've got a Suretrac front diff as opposed to the apparently quicker helical variant.

I go with DCCD. I recently swapped my tranny to a dccd equipped type and got an aftermarket controller (automatic) from dccdpro. Installed it myself and I am a convert!
The handling is so much better specially on corners in all conditions (wet, dry, mud). I would
get a car that has DCCD and install the controller myself.

Simon @ Chevron recommended I played with the manual DCCD settings after he set my car up. I have to say the difference is noticable, even just on spirited (legal) drives on the road.

Really looking forward to experimenting on track.

Same here, been playing about with the DCCD and surprised how different the car feels in certain settings!!

When its dry I have the Diffs open and the switch all the way to the back, and the car drives like a rear wheel drive car, When it rains I leave it in auto!!
