Default oil sump baffle plate

What are the benefits for having one? Been told it reduces the risk of bearing failure. Is this true?

Way cheaper than the concequences of oil starvation!
Does anyone know how the rcm and cosworth ones compare?

This^.

I learnt the expensive and hard way, this is small change to what it offers and what it can save, it's also pretty easy/cheap to fit.

I'll be doing this with my next oil change.

Am tempted by the killer B package from the states. Baffle plate, extra capacity sump and uprated pickup pipe.

The killer b is a good option. Do you do your own changes?

Yea, the sump change doesn't look too difficult. Couple of awkward bolts to get to but should be manageable.

Pretty straight forward job really, there not cheap mind! Just had a butchers and they are mega money. Surely you'd be as we'll getting either a Cossie or rcm plate? Don't get me wrong I can see the advantages of the killer b stuff, but the coos worth and rcm parts are widely used

FAO fonzey. I've just looked at a couple of old snet posts about this and apparently it's easier to take the engine out and replace it. I can't see that surely .

Yeah I'll be a mega easy job with the engine out already, but it can't possibly be EASIER if that's the only thing you're doing... Surely?!

Killer B combo comes to about £500 iirc, but that's sump and pickup pipe too... I'll probably go with cosworth/RCM though as god knows what shipping will come to from the US!

That's what I was thinking mate. Shipping and duty just makes options like this way too expensive.

Hi there

Really depends what are yours plans,if you are planning to do run some track days and drag runs, then I would go with Cosworth/RCM Baffled plate

We run like Cosworth baffled plate like on track days or drag strip and we never have issue with oil starvation etc,we've run Syvecs with JTi sensor pack and I've log after every session oil pressure and other parameters and we are never have oil surge/starvation like on the track/road or drag strip, but I must say, this mostly depends from tyres, from the track and from the driver

On 2.35L we run KillerB Baffled/windage tray which has been OK,but must admit, been overall impressed, not sure if I would run more track days if I would invest to proper baffled sump, but probably yes there its worth it,speak with Alyn@AS Performance about his Baffled sumps, they're better priced like above, cost less and are proven on numerous cars

What I would rather buy from KillerB is Oil pickup, this usually failing on Subaru(what I've seen mostly on 2.0L) and their(KillerB) seems is better design and doesn't fail

Jura
