We went to the Ring on the night, there are a few restaurants and there was a nightclub (we didn't go to that though). We only stayed one night too.

Just to add, I didn't stay there the last time I went ( I just realised) We stayed 2 nights after 2 nights at Spa. What we ddidn't realise was that there was some german endurence races and everywhere was booked apart from some little family ran hotel which turned out to be a little gem. I'll see if I can remember what it was called. There are a few towns around that you can go into for a few jars etc.

Here it is, I couldn't remember what the name was so I had to trace my steps from the Ring on google maps. Decent bar but if you want excitement you'll need to taxi/drive

You're probably looking at 4hrs ish Calais to Nurburg.

I've only ever gone from Hull overnight on the ferry (which is part of the fun) to Rotterdam.

Road trip we did Hull to Zeebrugge on the ferry Wed night. Then onto Spa Thursday morning, Thurs afternoon/night on the lash around Liege, Friday all day at Circuit de Spa (until about half 3) destroying my cars engine in the process. Then on to the Ring where we stayed at the second hotel I posted above. Saturday morning went to the ring had a look round in the shops etc, had some food and watched the racing that was on which was pretty impressive, waited for the evening session on the ring to start which started an hour late then someone wrapped their car up big time and it never reopened that night. Went out in a local town (can't remember which). Sunday came and back to the Ring where it was truly ridiculously busy and makes you realise how badly organised it is allowing camper vans and pretty much race cars sharing tarmac

The next time we do the ring, we're going on a closed trackday on the circuit. Yes it's £500, but the cost compared to buying laps is no different as most must do 15 laps minimum. Also it is forever closing due to the free for all it allows.
