Default PCD Change

Afternoon gents,

I'm considering getting myself some Karlton arches so I can fit some wide wheels. I believe the bearings in my 5x100 current hubs wouldn't be so happy about this, and there is a better selection of wheels with 5x114.3 fitment.

What is needed for this change?

Many thanks

Kev

Yeah but that wouldn't stop the 5x100 bearings falling to bits every time i drove the car

Somebody must know the answer to this. I know I need hubs, new discs, wheels obviously and suspension but what about brake caliper mounts and drive shafts? And anything else?

Don't quote me on this, but I looked into this as well when I had my heart set on a Type R; you'd need hubs, discs etc but also driveshafts, and because of something like the size of the shaft or the male/female Fitment you need the diff as well.

Hi there

As above, you will need 5x114.3 hubs, driveshafts, brake discs(you can redrill yours brake discs to 5x114.3),rear diff

Mounting brackets of brakes should be same,as 5X114.3 brake callipers will fit on 5x100 only difference is in the brake discs

Suspension difference is only in front legs, rear legs of the coilovers/suspension is the same as on 5x100 or 5X114.3,you can reuse yours front suspension/coilovers on 5X114.3 conversion, you can make spacer for suspensions/coilovers or redrill holes on the hub

Second option is replace legs, depends on coilovers/suspensions

Hi kev, I'm also considering a set for my blobeye. I don't suppose you have spoken to the fella regarding postage?

Give me a shout if you go for this. We might be able to get them a little cheaper if purchased and sent as 2 sets

Dan.

I haven't mate, I'm still trying to justify changing my hubs and everything else, as well as the arches just to run wide wheels. Probably won't be till the start of the summer for me though tbh as I have a baby due in May

However, if you get in touch with him keep me in the loop, I could be persuaded

Do the wider wheels really affect the bearing so much?

I only ask as when I bought 20mm hubcentric spaces for my gt four a while ago I was told that it made no difference to the car running wider wheels even with the lower offset and was assured they would be fine for trackdays etc etc

Seems a bit overkill tis all

I run 16mm spacers and my wheel bearings are doing fine, Seems alot of effort and expense for nothing.

The truth is, I don't know if the 5x100 bearings will be strong enough, and wouldn't know unless I tried. But, I don't fancy getting some wheels made to my spec in 5x100 then find out the bearings can't handle it and have to change them anyway.

Worlasshasansti/Jacko - I understand what you're saying but there's a big difference between running 20mm spacers on standard/ish offsets/sizes and running 18x11 et10
