I think it's best to state a budget with such a question. Intercoolers seem to have a bigger price gulf than most other components between top end and an acceptable "product for the masses". Japspeed seem to sell plenty of kits for £300 on here, all well received but I've also seen kits of £2-3k+

for a road car i dont think you can go wrong with the japspeed fmic
good all round and does the job nicely for only £2-300
i used one on my blobeye and was happy all round

A £250 kit will do the job pretty well but can't be compared to the likes of this....

Myself and thunder8 are currently mid way through fitting a japspeed front mount to his car. While the core itself seems decent enough for the money the pipe work leaves alot to be desired.

I have a Japspeed one that I got for £199 on here.
However, after changing the silicone hoses to SFS ones, and replacing the clamps with Murray clamps, plus the DV adaptor kit, paint and heat wrap, the cost was nearer £450.

If I did it again I'd probably go for the HDI kit, although I did like choosing the SFS hoses and Murray clamps to get it to the spec I wanted.
The hoses that came with the kit would probably be ok, but I wanted better quality.
And after blowing a boost pipe off on the way home from having it mapped, the Murray clamps were a no-brainer.

Newage japspeed kits are £199 Bargain for what they are really all things considered for the power goals most people wish to achieve.
I've got a hdi on mine but don't like the pipe work design of under the car and up the back of the bulkhead, I've caught the floor with it a few times, May have been the person who installed it granted (before my time) but I've now changed the piping to the japspeed kit, much better IMO

£199 brand new??? Mine was fitted when I bought the car too. Had to re-do all the clamps as I had one come flying off when I was on boost!! Thought my engine had gone pop with how loud it was!!
Lucky for me it broke down outside Halfords and managed to get some tools to put it back on and tighten all of them up!!!!!

I'm using the pipe work coupled with all the clamps I currently have with my hdi cooler, not because I didn't want to use the newer ones but mine looked a bit thicker, if the clamps are fully tightened then they shouldn't slip off the rounded ends, I'm guessing the clamps work loose at a stab then guys 
Yea £199 advertised on here for, that's what I mean for the money you can't really go wrong, perfectly suited to the lower - medium power applications

The HDi coolers run 850bhp+, have better flow and lower pressure drop. An intercoolers job is to reduce charge temps, but it should do so with the best flow and least pressure drop.
There's a lab in the UK that tests intercoolers for race teams, manufacturers etc. I would love to see a £199 cooler up against a HDi cooler. We'll foot the bill of testing the HDi cooler, will any supplier put up a £199 cooler though for thorough testing with the results published in public - doubtful.
What's the effect of the cheaper coolers with higher pressure drop vs HDi coolers with low pressure drop?

The HDi coolers run 850bhp+, have better flow and lower pressure drop. An intercoolers job is to reduce charge temps, but it should do so with the best flow and least pressure drop.

Simply because it's not cheap 
The question is why wouldn't another supplier put their product up and foot their part of the bill?
Cost is around £650+ VAT per intercooler.
