Evo x?
Just a quickie (lucky lot you are lol). A mate of mine has just bought a 61 plate evo x in black and I must say its a lovely looking car. He won't tell me what mods it has or let me look under the bonnet (********) but it does have a massive front mount intercooler. My question are these quick and what type of power could it have or handle without changing internals, gearbox etc ?

Go for a IX MR over the X... better internals !
Apparently the VIII 260 and MRs have the same rods whereas the FQ300 has slightly weaker ones which can only handle 360bhp... the guys friend who I bought my VI off has a 260 and with a few bolt on mods and remap it touched 440bhp but thought it best to lower the boost slightly just in case !

If your thinking of having a go against it in your scooby(depending what you have) then try and keep it in a straight line, as around the bends you will have no chance!!!
Had a blast against a modded one in my old STi Version 6 classic(310bhp) and in a straight line the classic was quicker(weighs a lot less) but around a track with a few bends the Evo X would out handle the scoob, make you realise that there no substitute for control!!

I had an evo x fq 360. I wasnt happy with it when i first bought it from Evans Halshaw , On the test drive i found it very slow 0-60 was taking over 7 seconds and mitsubishi claimed it should do it in the low 4 seconds. I bought it tho because they give a full 3 months parts and labour warranty. So within 4 days of getting it i took it to Evo specialists Indigo GT. They agreed with me that it was not producing the power it should and they said it was probably the tourque restrictor thats on the base mitsubushi map of the car. So through the laptop Ant at Indigo GT disabled the torque restrictor but still the car wasnt pulling as it should. So after a few tests and checks they found out the turbo was knackard. I went straight on the phone to Evans Halshaw and after a lot of heated discussions they agreed that Indigo GT can replace the turbo , free of charge for me. So Indigo replaced the turbo and they asked me if i wanted a remap to push the power up to 400 bhp and 400 tourque, I said yes please
When i fetched it from Indigo it was a totally different animal ! I was over the moon with it 0-60 in 3.9 and 0-10 in 8 seconds. So the answer to you question is yes they are foookin quick , a remap alone takes them easily and reliably to 400 brake and the drivability and precision of handling on say an A or B road is pretty much unbeatabe of what ive driven anyway. Ive got an Impreza type r and a GT-R R35 now but driving fast on a bumpy bendy road id feel more comfortable and i think quicker in the Evo X. The trouble is Evo Xs are very very thirsty even when trying to drive as economical as possible. But a very good performance car it definetly is !

Only really had experience against the one Evo X and I could not believe how it quick it could take the bends!! Like you say I dont know anything except maybe a proper track-car like a Catheram, Aerial that could be any quicker!!!

Then again, maybe the drivers weren't very good, so hard to say.

I remember watching a police camera action or police interceptor program a few years ago. The police were in an impreza and the 'robbers' in an EVO. The EVO was way quicker in just about every area - straight line, acceleration, corners etc.
But as said before, mostly computer controlled and they are not only thirsty but also expensive to run. Services are req'd every 4.5k lol

Most evos are quicker than scoobys , you've just got to have a quick look on mlr
There's probably more guys on there running at 400 than there is on here running 300
My bro was running 404 yonks ago in his 7 and he's not one of the serious ones on there

I did see that program with the Subaru bugeye WRX chasing a stolen Evo 8 MR340 that had stolen a load of ****, think a Clio 172 would have got away from it too!!!

That said, the EVOs are definitely not slow cars by any means and from what i see seem to be quicker than Imprezas regardless of JDM or not on certain tigther circuits.
When looking at them (JDM to JDM) from a perspective that covers various performance tests, i think there is very little between them.
Just my opinion.

Probably because those were JDM STIs and Spec Cs which are totally different cars to the UK models.

A Evo GSR vs Spec C there is no contest the Spec C would run rings around it!!! I think when people start comparing the 2 cars, you at least need to put them up agianst the appropriate cars!!
Both cars standard(if you can find one) i would class them as below(my own opinion, be intresting to see if anyone can suggest otherwise or add to list???)
Evo 6 GSR vs WRX STi Version 5/6
Evo 6 RS vs STi Type R/RA
Evo 7 GSR JDM(280bhp) vs UK bug STi PPP
Evo 7 RS/RS Sprint vs Bugeye Spec C/S202
Evo 8 260 vs blob WRX STi
Evo 8 FQ300 vs blob WRX STi PPP
Evo 8 MR RS vs blob Spec C
Evo 9 FQ340 vs JDM hawk STi
Evo 9 GT vs Hawk spec C
Evo X FQ300 vs UK Hatch STi
Evo X FQ400 vs Hatch cosworth

I think that's a pretty spot on comparison Scoobyboy1
The models that would be a bit hard to find a direct comparison for would be in my opinion:
The special editions mainly.
22B
S203/S204
Spec C RA-R
There have not been any new editions or revisions to the EVO X so i guess there will not be any direct comparison to the likes of the R205, S206, STI ts Type RA.
Something to add. I noticed that the EVOs do better in smaller, tighter circuits, which is no surprise i suppose, considering the have ACD, AYC which allows them to turn tighter. Their development direction seems to be slightly different to those from FHI.
Subaru seem to focus more on high speed stability and overall performance which is probably why they've always chosed the Nurburgring as their core development place.
Their lap times over a variety of circuits seem to point to this as well.

afew yrs back i did rally day at castlecoomb....i was there with the MLR.
on are stand was the local mitsubishi dealership they had 2 E10 FQ360s demo cars...they were taking customers out who had bought 1 i guess part of there package.
while i was out on track i passed pit lane and 1 of the demos joined the main straight...he was directly behind me..
now this was my 1st ever track time...so i was lets say finding time every lap....this guy had been out all day..
what happened next shocked me...i blew the X into the weads!!!! at what seemed 2 cars per gear change!!! and to top it off i then out drove the driver and pulled away!!!
now just think if you was the customer you have just paided 30k plus for your new X FQ360 and a lil Mreg E3 just takes off...lol
....did i cheat...yes i did....i had a 2.3stroked fully forged 375/390 motor
so to sum up....the newer the evo or scoob..the more burgers they were fed at the factory.... if you can drive....your in the game
