.............and tell me what you think.
Scooby Vs Escort @ Knockhill
Who owns the Scooby? Was it modified? Reason I'm asking is that the scooby didn't look slow, it's just that the Escort was faster!

I think I remember this. This was the race that TOPGEAR magazine setup where they found the most powerfull Cossie, and the most powerful Impreza.
Apparently the result was that because the cossie had about 250 bhp more, on every straight the cossie would be in front, but the Impreza overtook the cossie on every corner. They said that the race was a tie, but I think it only depends whether the finish line was after a corner, or after a straight!

It's from a few years ago, and was either at a Hot Hatch/Marques event, or one organised by a local Motorsport car club.
The Impreza is standard, apart from a back box. The Escort was modified somewhat more, and was rumoured to be putting out 300+bhp.
The Escort looks a lot faster in a straight line in the video, but it only just gets ahead of the Impreza at the top of the straight, so it gained a mere two car lengths from roughly 30mph - 105mph, which is hardly a big margin. Not a bad result I would have said.

I suggest you look again.
The scort gained on the scoob even round the corner and stuffed him uphill on straight. no way would the scoob get back past him I'm afraid, corners or straights.
Could be down to the drivers somewhat. Scoob didn't look that aggresive.

I wouldn't say that the Scoob driver looked agressive at all, the Cossie driver was quicker thru the corner plus a lot more agressive with it, probably just down to the better driver more than the actual car...

It looked to me as if the Scoob driver didn't really push that hard. After all, the Cossie got a lot of sideways goings on, which tends to suggest a different attitude towards to whole thing. Or it might be that the scoob driver took hte corner better because the Scoob is just a lot better at cornering than the Cossie, but didn't have the bhp on the straights. I suspect, depending on the track, that he wouldn't have been outclassed if it had been wet and it was a more corner-intensive track.
But, what do I know?

I am sure it is one of the Gallager(sp) brothers in the Escort.
do yourself a favour and go to the hot hatch days and see it for yourself, not only is it one of the fastest cars you will see at any track day but also the best driven.the spec of the car is huge and ahead of any scoob but I was told it was now over 420bhp and the guy uses all of it .
