You'd need the key from the p1. As the keys are chip keys !

Sure the p1 has a vf28 like the type r, I personally wouldn't bother, you'd be better of getting yours mapped, much safer

Even tho the P1 is classed as a UK car, Prodrive did not map or change the ecu for the uk. The P1 ecu is a standard JDM v5 sti ecu.

I'll place a bet with you that if you plug this ecu in, your car will go bang!

It's on a uk car with these mods to match it and it's running spot on mate has been for ages, so i was saying this would be better with these mods than just putting an ecu straight onto a standard car

Are you sure its a UK car, have never seen Mines on uk ecu's. Mines are a Jap tuning company and map their ecu's to run on 100ron+

You will probably end up with less power as the map was designed for a different engine.

There is no ecu immobiliser on 99/00 classics but you will need to alter three pins at the ecu for it to start.

The map it totally wrong and you will blow the engine up and gain nothing powerwise in the process.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

If this guy says it wont work and will blow your engine up, I would value his opinion over anyone else's on here when it comes to ecu's!!

Just get your ecu mapped, will cost you around £500 and mapped to your car, and tell your mate you will have his P1 ecu and then stick it on e-bay and get some money for it!!!

What would you hope to gain by swapping this ecu? If its a blown engine......go for it!

In all seriousness, think about it. It is mapped for a different engine and turbo combo. What do you think will happen?

Worth the wait. JGM is correct, (he usually is), and the cost of a blown engine is FAR FAR more than £500, so rest secure that your engine will be OK.

If you have the spare £500, get a proper remap.

With the mods you listed in post #3, has it already been remapped?

A mapper once told me that the P1 map is a STI map with better knock sensitivity to cope with the low Ron fuel over here. A quick fix for Subaru.

As a result, he always started with a baseline P1 map when he remapped STI 5 & 6's.

What the OP's mate really wants to find is an ECU from a 99/00 Uk PPP car, as with just an STI equivalent exhaust, and intercooler piping they made 250ibs of torque. Almost the same as a P1.

Rare to find for sale, but probably in loads of breakers. Pink label and says STI on it.

P1 and sti map identical. The only mod to the p1 ecu related was a speed delimiter wired into the harness.
P1 was never safe for uk fuel hence so many blew up.
