Spec C Type 20 MY06.
Very fast road car point to point. Pulls from from under 2k revs. Maximun torque by 3.4k revs. No need to drop down a gear they just pick up and go no matter what gear your in.
Handling is almost gokart like.
Destined for classic status. Only 16 made.

I took a friend's WRX PPP out last night. Politely gave an exaggerated opinion.
I know it's become a joke on here but it's probably offensive to mention a WRX and a Type 20 in the same paragraph.
The Type 20 is a tastefully tuned JDM car and a fantastic car to drive.

On the AST suspension point, my Type 20 (blob) has been fitted with JDM spec C suspension as the AST was too hard for the previous owner on the Aberdeen roads. I have both sets of suspension with the car and think I'll try out the ASTs after winter.
As mentioned above, there is little need to drop gears in mine - any gear and it just goes. It's very addictive!

To try to give a perspective, along the lines of the 'go kart' description, I once had a beach buggy and never thought I'd drive anything as manoeuverable and manic - until I got my first Subaru, a Catalunya.
Having driven Saab turbos, BM's and a Mexico I couldn't believe the difference in performance and handling. The Cat was certainly the best thing I'd ever driven, you'd never beat it in my view.
Then along came the chance of a T20.
The difference between it and a Cat (and the WRX I had a few years ago) is imo as great as it was between the Cat and those other cars.
To me, the car is so well tweaked and tuned that I probably don't get 70% of the performance out of it, being a relatively conservative driver when it comes to bends, roundabouts etc.
It's never getting tracked (in my ownership anyway) so I won't be able to experiment with where its limits are.

As the type 20 Hawk is such a rare car it might be worth looking at what else is available. I mean if you are dead set on one then hold out but there are other similar (or some would argue better) around and about.
There is the option of a Type 20 Blob, very nice car and probably not much different.
I've driven a Hawkeye that was converted to Type 20 Spec and fitted with the LM400 twin scroll turbo setup, that was a very nice car indeed.
There is also the Type 25 Hawkeye which is a converted twin scroll and fully-forged 2.5 and quite a beautiful thing. The Blobeye Type 25 unfortunately was not forged (though often this was done when rebuilt) which was potentially open to 2.5 engine issues.
If what you're after is not on the market when you're ready to look then get in touch with Iain Litchfield and see if he knows what's out and about.

If you break it down in to it's component parts then yes in essence...... but a TYPE20 is a recognised brand in it's own right, so you're buying in to that in reality.

The map brings a significant bhp and torque increase though (I think ?).
I'm sure I've seen an article which said that the suspension upgrade was the big thing about the car (probably EVO - it was an online article).
Whether you get what you pay for I don't know (never driven a Spec C and probably not capable of getting the max out of either to see how great the difference in performance is).

Well, you've got more Nm to the £ than I have without a doubt, but my Ft lbs do last for a second or two longer
