Default Interesting Ebay auction - RB5

Hi all,

thought this may be of interest to some as surprised me, a 170,000 mile tatty RB5 with what looks to me like terminal rust issues yet starting to push nice classic money, Am I missing something!

Would put me off unless it was cheap. I know I could get the bodywork done if it was a keeper but anyone who isn't in a bodyshop or knows a mate it's not going to be cheap to get it done right.

Car is worth a grand on a really good day and to someone like me its worth a monkey tops.
Its either being bid up by people he knows or the people bidding have no clue.

Mmm......... £1,950 at the end.

What makes me laugh about EB is the 'anyone with less than 10 positive feedback contact me/your bid will be removed' comment.

Do you want to sell your car or not????

(I've done about 6 transactions on there, and one of those was a scooby).

Are you being serious ???

The wheels are 170K old but lets just pretend they are mint, straight and with decent rubber. If you're lucky they would bring £300.
No doubt they are far from mint judging by the condition of the car. A rough set, you'd do well to see £100.

What else is there of value, engine and drive train are worthless, body panels are almost worthless, suspension is worthless, brakes if in good condition are worth what, £100 and then the interior. Somebody might want it for £200 if your lucky but no doubt after 170K its well worn.

You can chuck out spare parts prices all you like mate but there aint no way an RB5 is only worthy £500. It may not be low mileage or the best condition but it aint that bad, Any old car with a years MOT is worth a grand . Imo your valuation is a joke.

Re-read my first post chopper, I actually said that the car (a dreadfully rusted 170K mile tarted up UK turbo) is worth a grand, but to me, its worth a monkey.
I really wouldn't want it, but if the chap rang me and said he'd take 500 sheets for it then I'd probably have a go. Anymore than that just wouldn't make sense to me. The car isn't valuble enough or low mileage enough to warrant restoring so I'd use it as a daily thrash until either the mot ran out or the engine gave up.
I'd also bet my bottom dollar that the corrosion is far worse than appears. If the arches look that bad from the outside then knowing a classic it'll be utterly horrendous underneath. And then the sills, they rust even worse than the arches do !!!

I know what you wrote mate but i think even a grand is little money for it. I'm not saying its a top dollar car at all but damn dude, we have seen chaved up **** boxes sell for 1500-2000 grand.

Its worth whatever someone wants to pay for it , whether its £500 or £5000 and if the buyer is happy with his purchase then i cant see no problem .
Ok more than likely it'll get relisted as it could be mates bidding to push the price up or quite usually the winning bidder is a total wa**er and has no intention of actually buying the car . Good luck to the seller i say and i hope he got the full amount for it .

my classic better than that with a better spec than that so if it sold for 2k and i think mines worth 3k all day then on there its worth 4k min.

i agree with matt same spec as a uk turbo apart from colour ,seats and door panels, wheels

Surprised a glorified turbo 2000 can fetch £2k with that much rust. I know I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.
