Impreza 2000 Turbo Buying Advise??
Hey up guys n girls,
Im looking at buying a impreza 2000 Turbo - I had a red one for 6 months a number of years ago and it was awesome - had 106k on clock - All the ones seems to be 120/30/40k + now - Can anyone who really knows the stuff about this Engine Block, give me some advice on it. Much appreciated

Hello and welcome mate.
Obviously as they get older more miles go on them. The art is finding any sign of impending doom in any you look at.
There's plenty on here who can (and will) advise.
What's your budget and are you looking at anything specific at the mo or just model-wise?
If you are, post a link and you'll get a full committee of helpful people running the rule over it and giving advice.
And when you say 'the engine block' does that mean what to look out for or that you're prepared to have a rebuild?
Good luck hunting !

As above, if you can find one with a decent service history, and is relatively close to stock, you should be alright.
You might get lucky and find a low mileage one somewhere out there - my MY00 had 49000 on the clock when I bought it last year. There are also a couple of half decent ones on Autotrader with sub-100k odometer readings.

I can't fathom why someone would buy a car in Jan, spend wads on a clutch etc, and then sell it 6 weeks or so before MoT.
Mmm.... questions that need answers.

I don't think there is anything untoward about it, I think the seller just wants the blobeye shape and is selling this to fund it - If it doesn't sell by the time the mot expires I'm sure he will put another 12 months on it and carry on driving it with a smile on his face

I think it's a fairly reasonable price for a low mileage classic - seems about the going rate and I'm sure he will be open to offers.

It's just my 'inquisitive mind' I suppose.
And of course, yes, it is the norm to have some leeway in the price, and 12 months MoT.

We have to bear in mind classics are now well over 10 years old. To find a sub 100k example will be really special, and command a premium. What's more important is how the owners have looked after it, signs of care, lots of receipts etc. I sold my old Lexus at 190k, still goes strong and I still see it.
My current classic is 107k, but over 14 years the average is 7.6k miles. Try not to go for headlines mate.

A bloke on here sold his wagon, then 6 mths later wanted another classic ..
He looked at 19 cars and he said they all a bag of **** ..
all were telling fibs about the spec and all were 280 to 320bhp with no proof except what you could see lol
he found 1 in the end not sure if he had to up his price to get a decent one ...
