Default 5w30 oil?

Coming up to service time for my scoob, just did a quick search on reccomended oil and 5w40 seems to be the most popular.
Just wondered why 5w30 seems to be a bad choice when its recommend by subaru, also when I put reg plate into europarts 5w30 is recommended?

2005 WRX 300.

5w30 is the oil used by Subaru to certify the emissions and economy so it's what they recommend. 5w40 is a much better grade to use for real world driving.

5w 40 minimum. Engine builders seem to recommend at least a 10w 50 in the turbo cars. A 5w 30 just will not handle the heat at well if you drive a scooby like it should be driven.

A 10w 40 or 50 would be a better bet.

My scooby has a very easy time, just the occasional blast. But still want good oil in it.

if thats true then the likes of CFS 5w40 Millers (consider the NT version or Motul 300v 5w40 if your feeling flush) will do exactly what you require..........

10w50/60's's etc are more suited to arduous use and modified cars generally
