Disconnect the battery for half hour to reset the faults/cel.

Drive around and see what happens. If it throws the light up then theres a fault, if it doesn't then you're all good.

Bugeye stores error codes on EPROM so you have to actively clear with Select Monitor / SECS / OBD reader........disconnecting the battery resets the learning side of the ECU like the AIM.

Get your cousin to check for historic codes stored on the ECU.

I had exactly the same problem with my Blobeye, CEL light flashing then staying on permanently with no error codes. Turns out to be the Neutral position switch.

NPS problems generally leave historic misfire CELS. Camboflip, there is no specific sensor for the CEL light. The ECU monitors a shed load of things and then lights the CEL or makes it flash to bring something to your attention.

Which for the DENSO bug ECU can be a bit frustrating as it can go off randomly, usually the camshaft position sensor or the neutral position switch

It didn't on mine and it was tested on 3 different diagnostic systems.

It's an easier job on the WRX than on an STi due to the position of the switch.

I got the local mobile mechanic to change mine, only charged me a tenner.

The switch itself isn't that expensive.

Take it yours is a WRX?

I've got a WRX with a 6 speed gearbox.......mainly because the 5 speed kept breaking at over 400 BHP LOL

You need to drop the 6 speed box to change the NPS which is a bit of a pain.

However, you need to do a shed load of mods to a WRX to need a 6 speed box......maybe it's something else?

Usually by then you have changed the ECU and the CEL might be lit by a SIMTEK etc detecting knock........

Just curious why your bug WRX needs a 6 speed box...........

In general if you like to have fun in a wrx the brakes, suspension and gearbox if your aggressive in gears 1,2&3 than these will need changing.never liked being brutal in 1st and2nd on 5speed so lost out to many slower but quick cars in these gears
