Default Complete newbie needs help!

Hi all, as the title says I am a complete novice when it comes to Subarus I'm afraid! I picked up my first scooby the other day and I'm already thinking of some modifications! It's a 2002 bugeye wagon in the gorgeous blue colour. The mods I'm thinking are as follows; exhaust (louder the better), air filter/system, dump valve, remap and wheels. Any help you guys can give me in getting the wagon would be greatly appreciated! As you can imagine knowing where to start looking has been a problem as there are literally thousands of sites saying their gear is the best but in my opinion the best way to go is the tried and tested route so I'm asking all you lot where you go "shopping"

Any help would be brilliant

Cheers

Really depends on your budget and power target. Always best to have a clear idea of what end result you want before you start imo. I wouldn't waste my money on the dump valve if it were me. I'd stick with the standard re-circ.

Standard re-circ de cat upgrade fuel pump induction kit re map. Depends on budget. If its lap times your after on track days go for bigger brakes and better handling but if its out right power get hold of a forged bottom end.

Avoid dump valve, standard re-circ is best

Not sure about the de-cat or induction kit unless your seeking big power. Newage airbox is good for 400 and a de-cat will fail an MOT. All depend on whether your friends with an MOT tester. I went for the compromise and fitted a 100 cel sport cat.

Yes need a friend who does mot's. depends what he wants. If 350-400 isn't enough think he'll need a jet fighter!!!!!!! Lol

I think the cheap effective route for a road car with a noticeable difference would be :-
Turbo back performance exhaust with 100 cell sport cat
Panel filter like K&N or similar
Re-map by one of our country's excellent mappers.

Cheers for the help lads. I'm not after massive power gains really and I know that sounds daft coming from someone who is looking to tune an already fast car up!! I'm more after bringing the sound of the car to the forefront. I love the sound of the tweaked imprezas around here and I want mine like that! Sounds stupid I know!!
