Megasquirt is not known on subarus afaik but a dam good ecu especially the ms3 with tonnes of safety features.
I'm getting megasquirt on my track mx5 when I turbo it.
Is he running turbo or sc? What power is he running? Has that ecu got fail safe modes? I.e knock timing etc when there is a fault.
How much did he pay?

But then you're well over a grand fitted and mapped when ESL is available at £295 plus mapping and offers everything the OP will ever need.

Toucan is great add on,but still at least I would add sensor pack if OP will go with the Syvecs
Two fuel maps,Mafless,flat foot shifting etc can have most of the New age via CarBerry ROM

He is running a turbo. Not had it on a dyno but boosting to a safe 13psi. It is good fun with it being low to the ground. He put a FMIC on it and it was around 2k for the ecu. Not got knock timing. The engine doesn't have a knock sensor.
You lot are funny I have come across some used Bilstein B16s but they have the standard top mounts, rather than the adjustable ones. Is it possible to buy some and swap them over?

Mega squirt 3 FTW and has all the features and safe modes inc l/c, FFS, A/L, goes into limp mode if it senses too lean etc.
