Default 2.1 stroker kit or 2.5 STI engine?

Wanting a more power than the standard 2.0 turbo. What are the normal ways of going? Reboring a 2.0 closed and or stroker kit, if it can be done, or 2.5?

Would there be any chance of you listing the parts used? Would it be worthwhile if I got a closed deck?

Thank you very much

One more question; Did you have to modify the block to fit the crank?

For a closed deck you will have to modify is for rear thrust but an open deck or semi closed deck wont need this

IMO i would not start a high power build with a basic open deck block (and certainly no chance if its a 2.5)

I don't see anything to worry about using a WRX block up to 500 ish horses.

It will also save about £600 on the cost of the build, which can be put into other areas, or even saved, shock, horror.

Another point to bare in mind is a very large proportion of people fall out of love with their subaru once they have put 5, 10, 20k into it and sell for a fraction of what it costs to do, so unless your 100% sure you plan on keeping it and it's an on going project there's not much point going for the absolute best of everything.

And at the end of the day if your serious about going north of 500 ponies you really want to be looking at a 2.35.

Thanks for the replies. It is defo something for me to think about. I'm going to upgrade to proper coilovers first and then look at the engine. There are so many brands to choose from in the £700 mark but then Bilsteins are double that. It is mainly a track car, so I'm looking for very stiff damping and lowering slightly

And she is going nowhere. Can't sell my first Scooby. Would have to break her to get a reasonable price for her.

for a road car forged 2.5 is about as good as it gets, much more low down grunt than a 2.1, will manage 450bhp no bother.

Why do people sell up so quickly, do forged engines not last?

For me the pleasure is in the building and modifying of a car more than the actual driving bit.

So its more about the sense of achievement, I suppose it is a great motivator.
