I have just put my self on waithing list for new M3 !

It should be delivered end of October 2001

In between now and then i need to sell the MY00.

Question being is it worth trying to sell now or hold out a couple of months. I read somwhere that values of old shape scoobs are on the up, due to the new ones looks. If so i would probably be better of waiting till the summer????

any views?

Many thanks for help

Denz

If i dont own a scoob can i still be a member of scoobynet !!

sorry mate, but used prices are dire. my my00 with ppp and other kit, best offer was 18k, worst (by the dealer who sold it to me) was 15k. it might be better to sell sooner rather than later. used prices dont seem to be going up i'm afraid.

"Used prices don't seem to be going up" - LOL

It's a mass produced Japanese saloon car, not a 1926 Bugatti type 35.........

Everyone wanted cheaper new cars...and the effect on secondhand values?? - you reap what you sow...

neep bmw colchester. for gawds sake dont mention me, or hearing from someone in essex going over to bmw.y'see, im about to blow em out for another dealer
neep have their own subaru dealer, hence a slightly better offer. however, IMHO, their subaru dealers are worthless *******, fill in the gaps yerself.ive had many a run in with them. so ultimately i'm going with a beemer dealer who offered £250 less, but will let me have my P1 alloys back( he's even doing the wheel swop for me!)therefore, when i sell P1's privately, i will in essence get MORE than 18k for mine
the best dealer to go to is cooper ipswich.
they may offer a couple of hundred quid less, BUT, they are probably the most friendly, helpful dealers i have EVER dealt with. they have bent over backwards to do this deal for me( honestly, check my thread if u dont believe me) and they are VERY flexible. also, they dont look down their nose at u.
THATS why i chose cooper ipswich. the guy you need to speak to is peter novasad. obviously i cant speak for him, and please bear in mind i had prodrive suspension also, but they offered a fair price for the car, and also offered me their car at a very reasonable price.
do me a favour though, please dont mention me, i just dont want him to think im speaking on his behalf, just pretend your ringing on the off chance.

Who the hell have you ordered the M3 from ?. Thats probably the shortest waiting list in the country. I'm presuming its an import ?

I'm number five on my dealers list. Have had the car on order for over six months, and its touch and go if I see it this year. Most UK dealers are at a minimum of 12-18 mths. Most are quoting 2 years.

Phew I feel better now, that means owner number one had more depreciation than I thought (God knows why that makes me feel better :confused )

I accept that (with inflation) the price has in fact stayed the same. That is still a long way from prices reducing, and IIRC the 'motor industry' has reduced prices by 10% to come in line with Europe

Anyhow, I reckon my MY98 is worth 10.5K at 65 thousand miles which doesn't help you MY00 sellers at all

We've got two MY00's, both bought new, so will get hit twice when we sell them - but don't care, we're too busy enjoying driving them; which is why we bought them in the first place!! - we will get for them whatever we get for them.

I owe you both an apology about Scoob residuals not rising. I was wrong.

There is an STI5 advertised in Autocar this week (page 126) at £319,500 (I have the tiniest suspicion it might just be a typo error though LOL )

New Car prices have gone down ? what are you wibbling on about. My MY98 cost the first owner 18.5K, a new Impreza costs more than 22K

Price increase of 3.5K in 3/4 years does not appear to be 'cheaper new car prices'. I do agree second hand prices are crap though.

Methinks you exaggerate a trifle:

Original Mfrs list prices (4dr saloon):
94 £17,499
95 £17,999
96 £18,418
97 £18,965
98 £19,565
99 £20,770

Current car MRP £21,495 but remember that includes aircon which £995 option on old car plus spec is better on current WRX - CD player etc.

Real increase over three years is pretty much zero.

Lies, damn lies and statistics eh?.........

Regardless of the equipment that comes as standard on UK cars, and despite no real increase in price in real terms over the past three years, we're still being ripped off. If we weren't, it wouldn't be possible to buy a UK-spec Impreza (ex the warranty and alarm) from the EU at a £6,450 saving. A 3-year warranty and a CAT1 alarm don't add up to £6,450 ....

Cool

chins
i thought you were going for a bug eye special edition? perhaps youve seen the light! deposit is going down soon for m3( with auto option.) i want it 2 years from now...heres wishing eh?
by the way, talked to the finance manager at cooper bmw ipswich ( nice guy by the name of andy) and they are happy to take subarus off people, and not take the p155 too much. used prices on all cars are bad at the mo, but the once invincible residuals of the scooby are no more, as everyone is finding out.

I might have a bug eye whilst I'm waiting. Bought the S4 thinking it would take me upto the M3, but looks like a bug eye will be replace the S3.

Need to drive both the Bug Eye PPP, and next week an hour in the M3. Both will need to be very good, as I'm enjoying the S3. Could chip the S3 to 265bhp again !!. Will the M3 be worth the dosh ?, or will I cancel my order.

Spudgun,

How's it going on the BMW 330 front??. I'm looking very closely at a 330dse touring as I've now dismissed a WRX Sportwagan because of running costs. I read the thread between Chins and you and am now looking closely at what kind of deal I can do with the BMW dealer.

Gareth.
