Default Brake Squeal

I've recently fitted brand new discs and pads all around; Godspeed 6 Groove Discs & Performance Friction Pads, I now have a VERY load squeal coming from them when I brake softly! There is no noise when braking hard only softly, any ideas how to eliminate this noise? It's driving me crazy!!!!

What mileage have you done on them so far ? You can get some squeal while they are bedding in , have you also got the spring clips that hold the pads tight on each caliper , if see are missing it will cause squeal , if they are fitted they might have lost some of the spring in them so might not be holding the pad tight enough , you can bend them so it holds the pad tighter which will help , if not give me a shout and we can supply you a tube of cera tech paste that does a better job than copper slip
Cheers Ian

I had this problem with mine, done my absolute head in. The pads where mintex, and after 2 weeks of squeeling and back to the garage (a good m8 of mine) 3 times, i changed the pads for brembo ones, never squeeled since. mintex said it was due to them being high performance pads but i couldnt bare it any longer. hope this helps, heres the thread i posted about it

Probably done close to a 1000miles now, and a track day on them. I don't think they have a spring??? Only the two caliper pins and retaining clip and the metal plate that hooks trough the caliper pins.

The pads have the shims on, looks like garage that fitted them have glued the front shims to the pads.

I've copper greased it all up but the noise is very loud an irritating!

Any help would be greatly apriciated! Thanks

As daft as it may sound, make sure there are not bit's of gravel stuck down the sides of the pads or on/in the "vents" on the discs.

I had a squeal when i fitted brand new 1144 mintex pads and ebc discs on my 05 wrx. I had the same only squealed at slow speeds. Really annoying as the neighbour took the p##s everytime i came home :-( Had grease on back of pads etc, the only way i found to stop it was to use the sticky pads shims that came with the pads. Apparently solid calipers can suffer with vibration and this helps to stop that.
