The Subaru Burble...
I've heard many Subaru's and they give off that distinctive burble from the exhaust but mine doesn't seem so much, Any idea why?
P.S. My car is a Turbo 2000.

If your car has had aftermarket headers fitted, the lengths can vary from OE unequal pipe length, right up to equal length pipes. This is the sole factor that governs just how distinctive the "burble" is as far as I am aware.
If the car has aftermarket headers fitted and you simply must have the burble back, try to source something along the lines of some "Harvey Smith" ported and wrapped headers. They sell VERY quickly on here.

Depends on exhaust system.
Unequel length headers make the burble. The rest of the system depends on how loud. A turbo 2000 should have unequel headers. Something as simple as changing the backbox could amplify the sound.

I'm not sure on the exhaust system, I know it's not standard - looking underneath the pipework seems huge going into a pretty big backbox - I don't necessarily want to amplify the sound of the exhaust, Just get that burble a bit more clearer if you know what I mean.

Hold up, before you start spending hundreds on aftermarket exhaust manifolds work out your end goals.
If you plan on keeping the car pretty standard then theres nothing wrong with a standard manifold.
I doubt yours has been changed and my guess is that a new turbo back exhaust system will unleash the noise your after.
Get underneath the front and take a look at your exhaust manifold, if it looks old and crusty with tin heat shields then its more than likely an original.

My first Impreza I got back about 7 years ago was a standard awd wagon turbo. There was no sign of the flat4 burble unless you put your foot down and you could just about hear it as if it was trying to unleash itself. I eventually bought a Milltek back box and my god, the sound was awesome. The flat4 burble was unleashed for all to hear
A said before, you need the un-equal headers to start with but the tone/loudness is from the exhaust itself. You do get the burble with equal headers but it is more subtle until you nail it
The sound is probably the most distinctive bit about a scooby

Update:
I've just changed my backbox and it now sounds so much better. I spotted one on ebay I think it's one of these > http://www.haywardandscott.com/subar...e-backbox.html
Got it for £50 and I'm made up with it. The middle pipe is straight through and it has the standard downpipe / cat with standard headers too.
