V5 TMIC - size and upgrade options
ive got a turbo 2000..with a panel filter and full decatted exhaust..tempted to get a remap soon.
so was thinking
Walbro or RCM fuel pump
and an uprated intercooler..either autobahn88 TMIC which is bigger then standard unit or FMIC (against this due to cost and ive got a stock turbo td04 so i doubt itl make more tehn 280bhp at best) just want a smoother driver.
could someone please tell me the size of the standard MY99 tmic? would like to compare with alternate TMIC units
thanks

With the td04 I would not bother replacing the intercooler for newage sti. Would only bother if you going over 300ish. You will be just wasting your money. Just get updated fuel pump and remap and you will have 270ish bhp.
Or change turbo for vf28 or 34/35 and then the sti intercooler would be needed.

Samco Y pipe on your current TMIC will help.
Stay away from cheap and nasty aftermarket TMICs.
Check ECU type, AE801 or AE800 (OEM, but more agressive maps) are a nice upgrade which will cost very little. Manual boost controller. Monitor knock and check fuelling.
All cheap and effective mods.

ok i think the general consensus seems to be to stay away from a intercooler upgrade due to turbo..
tempted to try find a ecutekd ecu and then get that remapped. il be happy with 270/280bhp to be honest. its just a run around car.

A Newage WRX intercooler is a good cheap start. But you need to mod the undertray for the best results, the standard skirting cuts out about a 1/3 of the area.
The DV will need modding unless you take the metal pipework for the OE classic off and refit the newage OE DV and pipework across to the turbo inlet.
