...a dedicated insurance scheme for Subaru owners? Surely with the number of members of Scoobynet and/or SIDC there should be the possibility of negotiating an insurance deal with a specialist? Every other decent car club has one, why not us? Make sure it includes bloody imports though

This is the holy grail for a car club and something that I, and many others, have worked long and hard on.
The problem is, the only companies that want to do it, are not competitive, even with a club discount. Every time we have put something together, its is still 10-20% over what Greenlight, Tesco or Privilege quote day in day out.

Another advantage for switching to an Evo then guys.....
We have an insurance broker who is part of the MLR, owns an Evo 6 and has setup a scheme with an insurer who is very very competative.
Andy
P.S. I believe that he also posts on here

In the past I beleive (purely from what I've read here) Rum* has provided excellent value insurance BUT only for the over 30s and tends to be special deals around the special editions (P1, UK300 etc)

Most disturbed to learn that Chris Knott can no longer do Jap Imports, or was I talking to the wrong person?
I guess I'm gonna have to shell out the criminal £1650 that Tesco want, yuk.

Switch to an Evo and save on insurance?
Good move that. Offset it against the increased servicing & running costs.
And as time is money don't forget those additional hours spent refueling

BTW
I believe Rum now has a scheme which extends to all Subaru (and Isuzu) models. Don't know if it includes imports though.
But even he is not wealthy enough (needs just a margially improved income)to cover the risk personally. Deals are based upon an underwriters portfolio and assessment of risk.
Other car clubs normally have a wider membership and model base which balances the risk. If this guy can offer a equivalent scheme I'm sure the SIDC committee will be pleased to discuss it. But I'm not sure I'd want to put my business with an organisation that specialises in providing low premiums for young owners of high risk performance vehicles. (Unless I was absolutely certain I wasn't going to claim )
