Default Bored

Hate to say this but I'm bored of the scoob already. Had a wagon wrx for just under a year. I used to enjoy driving it with a big grin on my face. It just doesn't do that anymore. Seems slow as well lol even though its running at 310 bhp with 290 torque. Any ideas

Wagon WRX, no wonder you're bored

Sell it and get yourself a type R, 300bhp in one of these is great fun. Budget £4000/£5000 for a decent car.

slap a vf35/34 on it for 350bhp+ or a vf48 for 370bhp+ all can be had for less than £400 would make for a pretty decent sleeper

I got bored of Scoobs too and modified car in general. They are a bit of fun but a money pit basically. I couldn't justify the costs, especially the running costs.

So I drive a diesel golf now. I get 50-60 mpg. Leather seats, satnav, dual climate control. A much more confortable and smooth ride than any Scoob. I don't attract the negative judgement either.

If it was my money I'd have an sti ra but most prefer the type r as it only has 2 doors.

I use mine daily and i must admit, its not quite as fun as i thought it would be.
i was hoping it would be a bit more tail happy but its not.
dont get me wrong, its is fairly quick and does handle reasonably well (got ****e tyres on it when i bought it)

i dunno, i like driving things that you think can kill you at any time lol.
my old 3-door sierra at 400bhp and RWD was a bit of a handful to say the least!

if i keep the scoob ill up the power, but that will mean a gearbox i expect.
might look into making it RWD for a bit of fun...

LOL Fudgey, drive mine then you won't think that! Even on low boost it wants to kill you, on high boost you are just a passenger along for the ride!

And mine is very tail happy its down to the geometry set up. But the crap lock on the scoob makes anything sideways not all that fun rather more plain scary!

That is correct. Last print out is 517hp. Check my garage spec is massive, . High boost comes on like a sledgehammer and when launching it launches you sideways!

Its not just the power its the suspension and what not that makes it what it is. Can hit corners at seemingly impossible speeds.

Dont get me wrong mate, they are very capable cars. but in standard trim, well, i dont want to say its a let down as its not. just not that exciting i guess.

but as mentioned i expect a lot of that is down to the tyres on mine (linglong on the front, sunful on the rear) quite surprised at the tyres tbh as the car has a full file of history and had money thrown at it, but not for tyres it seems lol.

it understeers like a **** if pushed...

where abouts are you based JGlanzaV? im near swindon wilts, might take you up for a passenger ride if your not too far away.

i know you can modify them to make them better etc, but i have to finish the house first before i start playing with the car lol.
if i keep it, as said it will be made faster/handle better... then have its arsed handed to it on track! (after a gearbox lol)

I'm near plymouth, but swindon isn't a million miles away from combe etc and we are quite often up that way doing stuff.

That's the thing, they are capable as standard and with a bit of cash and some decent mods they can just be made ridiculous! I hardly ever use high boost, low boost is plenty fast enough for pretty much any situation out side of a race track

S206, meth mix stroker engine etc. That's just a basic spec. An awful lot of one off custom work has been put into this.

Yes I'm definitely sure it is that high, need a 3 bar boost gauge for it lol...

I got myself a nice sensible Golf so I could keep the Scooby in the garage for weekends. Leather seats, satnav, dual climate control and a lovely big sat nav display. Also has a smooth ride, great cruiser long distance and comes with a DSG box.

Couldn't bring myself to buy a diesel one though so got an R32

Different specs on the heads etc, and mine is mapped differently, I don't have cams or any head work. So the extra boost makes up the power gained from the cams etc. Gotta work mine harder for power that's all.
Also my exhaust manifold is strangling ings at the top end, its a japspeed thing. But will be been replaced by a titanium manifold once Iis fabbed.
Some people on this website are so fickle, before judging and making sweeping statements not every car and spec is the same. Mine is built and used for a completely different set of circumstances.

And thus required a different approach to get the power.

My high boost map is designed for one purpose and one purpose only, its virtually unusable on the road in high boost it is too aggressive
