Tax Band JDM hawk?
Hi, i recently viewed a JDM hawk and speaking to the dealer he said if you contact the DVLA to tell them its a 2.0l not 2.5l then you can tax them in the cheaper tax band?i.e not £450 a year. The tax disc on the car was at the higher rate, so wanted to see if anybody knows for sure...
thanks
Pete

It'll be the top tax band unless it's a hatch S-GT.
The import cars are taxed on emissions like the rest of our cars after March 23rd 2006 but some people managed to sneak them through on a lower tax rate for whatever reasons, my guess is that sometimes people get lucky or know how to play the system. It has nothing to do with engine size.

They must have had someone in on work experience or something that day, how could you confuse the tax bands of something that runs on dolphin tears with an average family car?

Doesn't matter if it's a JDM Hawk or a brand spanking new Merc.
Well it does I suppose.
If the car was registered before March 2006 (Budget) it's exempt from the tax banding.
My MY06 (55 plate) Hawk is £285pa.
You need to see the MY, then perhaps question DVLA.
