Default EcuTek Hawk enhancements

JGM's site has the following info:

"EcuTek on Hawkeye Now Includes racerom which has Launch control, throttle blip, flatshift and dual maps."

Does anyone have these features, and anyone who does would you kindly give me your verdict please ?

Thanks.

I think that's only available for Type UK's, although the JDM can have dual maps.

I have the ecutek racerom mapped by bob Rawle with these features.
The duel map i have had mapped is Race = 99 ron fuel with all features. Road = no features and low boost and less timing so the car can run on 95ron fuel in-case of emergency.
Flatfoot shift is good fun as you can change gear with the throttle still pushed to the floor. It keeps you in the boost zone.
Auto-blip is good as it blips the throttle on the down shif providing your on the brakes and over 2000 rpm. Saves having to toe and heal.
Personally i have never used launch control as i doubt my standard clutch will handle it. Once i have a better clutch fitted i cant wait to try it.

Thanks for the feedback so far peeps.

I've emailed JGM for further info, so he'll no doubt ensure that my car's compatible if I go for racerom.

Your experiences are helpful because I want to know if a) it works effectively; and b) I feel it would be something I'd like to enjoy on mine.

It's then the matter of personal choice deciding if the cost is worth it.

Hopefully a few more comments will build on the good start you've given.

Cheers

Correct

Jdm 2006 2.0 is not flyby wire throttle

UK 2.5 is FBW

IIRC The JDM hatch was FBW

Yes, spot on thanks.
JGM emailed me (very quickly) with that info.

There is an option available however, the megarom which gives two maps and launch.
The car doesn't need anti-lag anyway.

Cheers.

As per my reply to Nic, quite correct Tony.
Thanks.

Looks like I'll simply be deciding whether two-mapping is worth it.
(You're probably aware that anti-lag is superfluous on the car anyway).

No correct Dan
My original statement from above was period to the launch control /
It's usually bacon & beans when u talk about 1 or the other as they seem to go hand in hand with 1 another .
Again for a road car having the option 2 select maps is its primary target
The other features or gimmicks arnt without there hindrance , & by that I can only go from my personal experience .
Next mapping session I will be removing the down shift auto blip

Regards

It's a shame that certain functions are not user adjustable or selectable

Some features great on track day not so great in traffic. Some needs a tweak for conditions.

A plug in interface or "app" and Wifi dongle is the way forward IMHO

It would be nice. No doubt sometime in the future (probably after I've passed the car on).

Anyway, I've decided to go for two maps and Launch Control, all that's available for the JDM Hawk.

Although I probably won't use LC it's a useful addition to the car's description I suppose !
(Now that's an idea. 'Mapped for 700bhp on 50% meth' should add a few thousand to its Ebay value................. ).

I'm looking forward to seeing how (one of) the pros go about their work.

Thanks everyone for your input.

Are you going to have the duel maps to run on 2 types of fuel or the same fuel but different peak book levels ?
I had one map for v-power and the other for crappy 95 unleaded. I never use that map or any fuel other than 99ron but its there should i get stuck. I always thought the 2 maps with different peak boost was a bit useless at my power levels. I can control that with my right foot.

Sort of are but limited in that you can turn it on and 'off' if setup so, ie. 'on' on map one and off on map two

Unfortunately I can't control it with my brain !

As it happens it's low and high boost that's been suggested.

My initial thought was 'dual fuel' (as against 'duel fuel' ).
However, I've been running on Momentum this tank (following on from the V-Power Nitro thread) and as we all know it's perfectly OK to use. That means I should never have to 'pump the junk' given the increased availability of 99 (plus I do carry a full can - more often used by stranded drivers than me ).

There's also another reason , and that's the missus is very nervy when she's in it. I've had to take her to work a few times and there's some spots which are very helpful overtaking points - if you're in a scooby with enough power, if you see what I mean. So I'm thinking that having a low-boost map will prevent the ballistic nature of acceleration. Might as well call it 'the wife map' I suppose.

Anyway, I look on the upgrade as a useful addition to the car - should I or any future owner need a second map the facility is there, plus LC for anyone 'keen' enough to use it.

It's hopefully going to be a group venture so there's a discount, and a little more funds than I figured have come to hand, so I look on it as a bonus.

Thanks for the advice.
