looking at buying a WRX STI and have seen one but price might be a little high. also wondering whether it does actually have the ppp pack as stated.

its 2003 moddle however has only done 36k miles
looks in brilliant condition and apparently has always been garaged and used as a second car, he wants £7250 for it but that does include personalised plate ' W5 UBY' or (W 5UBY)

with regards to the PPP just wondering as the insurance company admiral cant seem to add it on for the qoute unless you go for a 2004 moddle but he did seem like a bit of an idiot.

any help would be greatly aprecited.

ok cheers, was it from new or was it added on after.

am i right in thinking the PPP pack increase HP to 300+ and adds DCCD, quite a newby in all this, any idea on the valuation??

The PPP for a 03 sti adds the sports cat and has prodrives ecu which brings the power to 305 PS i believe

and defo not on the DCCD only the WR1 and Widetrack models came with this

you could fit DCCD to yours but wouldnt be worth it

and another one for the just interested, why wouldnt it be worth putting it on this 1 lol??

its not mine, thinking of buying it but thinking it might be a little over priced.

glass valuation is comming up at £5750 but that doesnt include the PPP

PPP is just the prodrive performance pack and for the STI models its was a sports cat and Prodrive ECU

The DCCD came standard on widetrack models 2004 / 05 and above came with DCCD (which allows you to change the diff settings)

On the 03 car your looking at, the Diff is non adjustable and is constantly set to 60 front 40 rear ( I think)

The price you stated is quite high as you can pick up reasonably milaged 03 STI's for circa 4500

and my old 03 STI ran 441 bhp and never once did i require a DCCD box

diff is split 50/50 hence being called symmetrical 4wd.

the ppp is a waste of money, just get a remap which will add more power and driveability.

dccd was not on any uk cars until the widetrack blobs my05 (other than wr1)

id but on condition as there are some real dogs out there, the price is a tad high but if its in a1 condition the price may reflect this

If the price can start with a 6 then you've done ok. The miles are nice and it sounds like a cared for car. The plates gotta be worth a few hundred quid to.

so what we saying it might not be bad for a well looked after car.
thing im worried about is whats just happened to me, some t""t writes your car off and your left out of pocket. im guessing £7250 he'll take 7k,
sell the plate your looking at 6000-6500,

just dnt know whether to go for that, or hold out for somthing newer, origionally looking for 2004/2005 with a £6k budget.

its about condition more than price, only way to decide is look at a few.
id say its slightly overpriced but not silly money.

but at that mileage id expect it to be in very good condition.

mileage isn't that much of an issue as the sti is good and strong.

also make sure you have service history and details like mapping if its modified as a lot of tools just fit parts ***** nilly nowadays and blow them up.

bear in mind i said circa 4500 but i dont think 250 quid really matters and if its got a full service history with timing belt changes then theres nothing wrong with that motor

Forget age, buy on miles and overall condition.
Id rather buy a 40K 2003 car than an 80K 2005 car.

The plate is worth maybe £500 so you'll end up with a mint low mileage blob sti for £6500. Nothing wrong with that fella.

the cars standard apart from PPP.

am going to look saturday so will go from there. its also only had 2 owners. the guy whos selling has had it since 06 and cambelts already been done by suberu due to its age despite its low milage.

sounds a good car to me, low mileage same owner for years, good history.
if the condition is good id consider it.

It was added when it was new, I suppose the downside to that was that it was my first Scooby so didn't get to see what it was like before so have no reference point to say whether it made a lot of difference

Looks a nice car, took me ages to find a low mileage one, they are worth paying a lot more for. Ignore book prices, doesn't mean anything.

In my personal opinion I wouldn't touch an impreza with more than 60k on the clock. If you have the money go for the lowest mileage one you can find, they are worth the extra.

mileage means nothing.

60k is hardly a lot for a ten year old car.
service history and general condition is whats important.
the sti is good and strong and will easily do double 60k without issues.

Sorry massively disagree with this but again only my opinion not wanting to stir up trouble.... But who in the right mind would buy an impreza with 120k on the clock.???

The engine is where the problems and costs come from, so a car that's had a very easy life I.e. 30k mileage over 10 years and service history is a good buy regardless of cost.

a 120k will reflect in its price. agreed I wouldn't want one unless it was cheap

but 60k is not high mileage, its better for an engine to be run than left sitting.

I wouldn't let 100K put me off a car if its been cared for and its overall condition shows its been owned by an enthusiast. Modern engines can go for a long time if treated properly.
Ofcourse price reflect miles massively and if you can afford a low miler then yes, go for it but you certainly should shy away from one with above average miles.

Id rather have a 100K mile car owned by someone like myself than a 40K mile car owned by Lee Roy from the local council estate.

To say you wouldn't touch one with 60K on the clock is just rediculous.

Do feel "ridiculous" is a tad harsh but like I said was just my own opinion, and the world would be a boring place if we all thought the same.

Just for the record my 2003 STI with 31,251 miles on has and will never see a local council estate

Don't forget to look hard for rust underneath when you go to see it. Remember it's a ten year old car. The plastic undertrays and sections in the wheelarches can hide it very effectively.
