Default Major wheel drama

Been saving for ages to get my rota force flat black wheels finally ordered them from Ruislip tyres was great service arrived today and had local garage fit them. Ruislip tyres unfortunately had shut by the time the car was finished and finally lowered down from the jacks as soon as it hit the floor the mechanic said ahh bit of a problem....the wheels don't clear the lip on the arches at all :-/ I really don't want to do any arch work on the car anything I can do? The reason for buying the wheels is to clear my k sport 8 pot callipers and was told by k sport that these should be fine. The wheels are et48 and are 18 x 8.5 the tyres are 245/40/18 and my car is an Sti hatch! Please can anyone shed some light on this for me as I'm so frustrated

I'm going to ring ruislip tomorrow as they are really helpful but just wondered if anyone could aid with a solution? Would swapping the wheels for 8inch width sort the issues?

I don't know the height is ok currently but the actual lip say I go over a bump would hit it :-( is the et too high?

Shall I take a pic? As I'm wondering if the wheels when ordered were a different offset then what Ruislip specified?

The higher the ET the further in the wheel sits, the lower the ET the further out it sits. ET48 is quite high bit like std prodrive wheels which certainly dont catch with those size tyres

Perhaps you needed a narrower tyre with a slight stretch would help clear the arch, rob has the same size tyre that you have but a wider wheel and the slight stretch, only half an inch might be enough to clear the arch.
But im sure Mags fromRTS will know, give him a call in the morning or try and PM him on here
Oh and im no expert on tyres, just a wild guess.

No stretch there then, that blows my theory out of the window, your tyres do look as if they would touch when the suspension is being compressed Rob,but they obviously don't,perhaps that's down to the fact that the wheel goes in at an angle as in top first thus clearing the arch.

They don't catch, even under the hardest of cornering, Thats my opinion too as the suspension compresses the lower arm goes over center and starts to pull the top of the wheel in as it rise towards the arch
