Is the STI 6 Type R Coupe V-LTD any good?
#1
Hiya all,
After looking and looking for a scooby for a long time i have finally taken the plunge and bought a lovely STI 6 V-ltd coupe from Newera Imports. The car is absolutely mint and comes with a set of Advan Racing wheels as well as a Fujitsubo exhaust.
Ok i did pay quite a bit for it but i would like to know is it worth it and is it any better than previous modles in any way ie engine, cosmetics etc!
All replies appreciated!

Thr v-ltd only applied to the type R and RA versions and WRX RA.
V-ltd -
Sonic Blue Mica colour coded body (SWRT blue)
Ltd edition plaque on console
on version 5 blue seats
on version 6 blue seats and blue console
I think both versions had the rally style roof vent
I dont think there are any performance diffrences?
Gez have you picked the car up yet?
dont worry you have definetly made the right car choice
does anyone know if they had shorter gear ratios I have heard that the RA allows gearing only up to 120mph is this the case with the R coupe.

type r v-ltd does have abs. Check the abs warning light when you start the engine, and check the abs control unit under the bonnet.
v-ltd also has close ratio gearing. V Nice acceleration !!
Mine had no problem going past 120mph !!
Limited to 7500 rpm max though, which was about 152mph on the speedo, probably less in real speed terms.
airhead.
wrx type r v-ltd (v4?).

Been past Meremere on the way to Hamiton over Easter.
Remember the big traffic jam on Good Friday.
Had a 'nice' long diversion around the back roads - all tarred but nice, fast and very very driveable - if you know what I mean !!
So you can recommend some roads around there then ??

Airhead mate, where did you get all that from!!!!????
Type R's and RA's have variable ctr diff's so can't run ABS, and anyway, the intercooler spray tank lives where the ABS valve block should be.
Type R is the way to go esp in V-Ltd form. Rarer and better looking.
Type R - no roof vent, TypeR V-Ltd - roof vent
Love the Advan's and is it lowered?
Cheers
Daver
PS I want your front lip spoiler! (WRX STI V5 TypeR V-ltd)

Airhead, I was meaning the 1/4 mile drag strip at Meremere. They have meetings every 4th sunday, you can take your road car and run it for $25. I live in Hamilton so know the roads well, theres roads everywhere in New Zealand for opening up your car, just watch the traffic cops...I got a Valentine detector as tickets can get costly......
They have a meeting at Meremere this Sunday 26th....there will be quite a few Subs, EVO's and skylines there all racing down the strip....
Does your car have any mods???

Nice one, sounds like it's worth a visit. I was going to take a look at the pukekohe circuit on Sat, but Meremere sounds good.
No mods, but it's supposed to be circa 295 brake. Will be de-catted soon too.

Airhead, you know where Champion Dragway is?? Just past the old powerstation on your left, go another 1000 metres and its on your right.
I may go on Sunday, depends on work and weather.....

There is not standard spec on the RA as they all seem to be different. I have a V6 with a V4 spoiler, abs, air con, electric, no roof vent, alcantar seats, blue dash and console. Everyone assumes they are stripped out but no so. My V6 isnt V-Ltd but a WRC Ltd and again 1 of 1000 examples. I think like the UKs specials they made the spec up on a per special basis.

The full spec is as follows,
Subaru STI 6 Type r V-LTD.
Fujitsubo full exhaust including cat replacement,
17' Advan racing wheels,
Apexi power FC ECU
After market adjustable STI shocks
Uprated lowering STI springs,
Boost guage
The car also comes with all the original parts ie 16' Volk alloys,
Original Sti exhaust,
Original suspension and original ECU.

Gez, nice car mate.
Does it have ....
a strut brace under the bonnet
a silver intercooler with large painted STI logo
red exhaust manifolds
these are all STI traits that my v4 does NOT have.

It'll have a "Tuned by STI" sticker on the top of the intercooler. Unless someone has peeled it off. It won't be painted on. You will only find the STI logo which is painted on the intercooler on the MY01/02 New age STIs.
Cheers,
Wrexy.
