Picking up a STI on Saturday - bhp estimate?
Evening guys,
I'm collecting my second STI on Saturday to join the Forester on the drive way and it'll be my first modified one.
The car has already had some modifications for the last five years and from driving it it certainly feels a lot more savage than my previous Hawkeye but I'm curious as to what the BHP figure may actually be. It could well be because I've been away from STIs since 2009 so hopefully you'll be able to throw a bit of light on it.
Anyway, it comes with the usual stage 1 mods:
MY04 WRX STI
o Milltek turbo back exhaust (3")
o Uprated panel filter
o Walbro fuel pump
o ECUtek map
My internal organs felt around 300bhp was a conservative estimate but what would you expect?
On a side note, I'm glad to be back after several years in German V6s
David

Thanks guys. I'll likely get to the next day at Surrey to see what the real figures are but assuming it's 320 to 340 is that still considered a safe zone?

Well i believe the WR1 is pretty much the same car as yours apart from prodrive map, exhaust ect and was 320bhp standard?

I would have said that 'just' a Stage One would be nearer the bottom end ie. 320 bhp or WR1-similar, as mentioned above.

Plenty of people running over 400bhp (some 450) on standard newage 2.0 STI lumps. The 6 speed gearbox is fully capable of running big torque.
Providing it has been mapped well, then the 320ish bhp I would estimate it is running is well within the 'safe zone'.

Was there an eBay advert for the car? If there was, there's an easy way to tell the power output.
If the description was legible, the font ariel, the font size small and black.. Then it'll be circa 300bhp.
If the description was in large, Times New Romnan font, there were multpile spelling mistakes... Then it'll be circa 350bhp+
If the description was only able to be read by standing back from your monitor, was in Times New Roman font, the font was blue and pink and totally illegible... Then it'll be 400bhp
Easy, no need for the dyno
Seriously though, enjoy the new car!
