hi all at scoobynet, i bought a 2005 legacy estate 2.oi sport 140k and it turns out the big ends are gone(i think) , how much would be reasonable for a used engine? would it be cheaper to just buy another car?

Pull the engine and have a go at fitting new bearings what have you got to lose ?

Iv never worked on a Subaru before I got my classic as a project and I did mine thanks to info found here on scoobynet

That's certainly had it.

It's up to you whether you want to go down the re-build route but it doesn't look like it's worth it.

Even if you were you can't just change the bearings on these, its a full engine strip. Try and find a cheap engine to put in (engine swap is easy to do)

Probably best to break as above...
