Default Suspension and handling tips anyone ?

Got a 2001 Wrx Bugeye and l'm looking to improve the suspension and handling, therefore improving the ride. Can't afford to spend a fortune but wondered if anyone had a few simple tips to improve both. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Anti lift kit.

Rear subframe lock bolts. Made a real difference to mine and only £20. Bargain.

what don't you like about the way the car drives? your better trying to fix the issue rather than fit a load of parts.

You need to fit the parts to fix the issue, wrx's arent exactly the stiffest car when cornering at higher speeds.

Springs not really needed.

I had my classic handling beautifully by having a 22mm rear arb, and solid droplinks all round, then an ALK, and bump-steer mod, and finally, the most important, a full geometry setup from someone who knows what he/she is doing.

This last is vitally important. It's no good going to your local tyre place.

I'm very green when it comes to anything moding but like to read other peoples views/opinions on things l know very little about. However having read loads and loads of threads/sites l'm starting to catch on. I don't like the way it handles in corners, very vague light feel to it. Its 12yrs old and although its been looked after(I've had it 3mths) certain areas are starting to show/feel its age. I'll put out what l was thinking of doing, some of which l've started and others far smarter and with more knowledge of this subject will hopefully put me right. Its gone in today for a full respray. I've had the engine etc fully checked out, its had a full service and timing belt and when its out of the paint shop l intend to put on a new exhaust(cat back, prob a milltek) I'm toying with the idea of putting kyb excel g shocks all round, superpro front and rear suspension bush kit, front and rear alloy drop links maybe an anti lift kit and strut brace. It will be having 4 new tyres, Dunlop sport maxx RT's as the 4 tyres on are all different makes and l'm told this could make a mess of the drive train. At the end an evo chip. Now for all l know l could be fixing one thing and messing it all up doing another. That's were forums and more experienced peoples opinions play there part. I want firm with smooth if that makes sense.

An evolution chip its called(google it). Its similar to a re map but cheaper. Gives more power better fuel economy, or so l'm told. As l said in my previous thread rubber will come before chip. I may not even bother with it, but its something l'm looking at.

" Its similar to a re map but cheaper" sounds a bad idea to me!

i generic chip like evo will never be as good as a custom remap and as they are £300 plus vat you would be better off with a custom remap on open source from someone like dynamix as its roughly the same price.

I concur with Tommy on that one.

Geometry? Mine's been done twice, before and after suspension fitting.
First was at Powerstation who WERE in Cheltenham, second was at Carnetix in Melton Mowbray...well worth the journey.

Forget that evo chip. Its £300 for a generic map , an open source custom map costs that !!!

For a top geo there is only one place to go...

Chevron Motorsport is Stafford.

Get what you pay for. Do it once and do it right.

Don't buy anything. Take a drive to Chevron, tell Simon what you want, let him test drive it and he will tell you all you need to know....... and probably a lot more

Many thanks for all the thoughts and replys. Will certainly take up some of the advice given on open source and geometry. Was that Duncan @ racedynamix that you meant tubbytommy ?
