Heres mine.... happy with it!

Very conservatively mapped to protect the standard liners! Running CP pistons, standard rods, standard crank.

Think 460hp480 torq
Is the benchmark on 2.5 with sc46
Really 450/450 is ideal on 2.5
From what I'm told and learnt etc over the years

For more power, id say you need to look at pinned blocks or closed deck inserts.

440/440 is great on the road though, and usually 'enough' on track!

Here you go maz, built and pinned 2.5 block. Mapped to a very conservative 1.4bar. Makes 400/380 and is a hoot to drive. Your more than welcome to meet me up at crossroads and have a play yourself to see what it is like. Eventually the FMIC will go on along with one or two bits and will see what's left in it. Have heard it said that they are typically 480/480 on pump fuel and over 500 on a meth mix

Built 2.5 Hatch engine, stock heads and cams, SC46, Ecutek inectors, Perrin front mount, K+N induction kit, 3 inch system, mapped on Racerom.

In my experience the 10cm housing doesn't improve that much on power and loses a bit of spool, the new 7.5cm cast housing ala Scoobyclinic is very good.

Martyn,

I currently have a decat downpipe but standard centre and back boxes on my Saloon. Would that hold it back as I have basically a similar spec minus the FMIC which is on the cards so would be curious to know if I will have to replace the rest of the system or not? Or maybe just the centre to help it flow if need be, any advice would be great. Hoping not as it's nice a quiet, must be getting old lol.

Also what bar was that mapped to?

A full system should free it up a bit but the intercooler is more likely to be the limiting factor on yours.
A while ago we fitted an SC46 to an RB320. On the topmount it made 402bhp at 1.4 bar, on a Perrin front mount it made 445bhp at the same boost.

Mine made 404/421 limited by the top mount.

Thanks guys, FMIC is next on the list so I will see how it gets on and take it from there.

Appreciate the help and advice

Whilst I can't speak for the MY08> OEM inlets and TMIC, I know the previous Newage TMIC is not a limiting factor (Andy Forrest for instance retained the OEM TMIC and exceeded 450bhp iirc) for more than 400bhp - based on logical deduction it appears to be the inlet side for that range of set-up. On the MY08>'s I'm led to believe the inlet is certainly a restriction.

This is assuming all things are equal, which with the most important element of effective mapping, is not always the case (as in who you use and what hardware is being utilised).

With that in mind Shaun, why did you bother changing to a front mount
Whilst it may be the combination of the inlet and intercooler that actually increases the power so radically, I'd always be more comfortable over 400bhp using a good quality front mount

Mines a Hawkeye sti top mount shaun, temps were going up and up.prob some stuff you can do to try to control the problem, like turbo heat blankets and such, but there just stop gaps.

Mine also runs perin intake, wing mounted induction kit, so no restrictions there.
