Default New member- car purchased today

Hi all,

I have been surfing the forum on the lookout for a car for a while and have finally got my hands on one today.

I am now the proud owner of a 2003 Blob Sti (UK Model)

Very impressed with the condition of the car inside and out, has clearly been well looked after.

Car is standard bar a pipercross panel filter.

I plan to upgrade the exhaust straight away as the standard is far too quiet for my liking, and was thinking at the same time I may as well fit a dump valve, better induction kit and get a remap as the car does not have the PPP so is 261bhp at the moment.

Any opinions on what exhaust, dump valve and induction to go for?

I would like a full exhaust system probably with decat that is fairly loud. A nice loud burble on idle.

Dump valve I was thinking baileys?

And not sure on the induction kit.

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers

Welcome to the club fella.

Forget the induction kit, a decent panel filter will be just as good.

As for the dump valve Tubby Tommy will be along shortly with his advice

Also if your going for a decat then you will need a remap otherwise you will have running issues. Do your research, lots of top mappers on here.

Cracking looking motor fella. I'd go for a high flow sports cat mate and keep the recirc dv you have. Personal preference I'd go k&n induction and you wanna be looking at an uprated fuel pump and then a map. After that I'd expect to see around 330-340 horses

I have somewhere local that will do me a good custom exhaust if I want one. Going to pop down this week and check out what they can do.

Don't know anyone for remap yet but I'm sure I will find out from a search.

So I can fit a high flow sports cat system with no need for a remap straight away? And then I can uprate the fuel pump and go for a remap?

Any reason why you would stick with the recirc dv? I kind of like the noise from a louder one

Cheers for the comments

I'd wait and fit the exhaust the same time as the map. The recirc is really good and if you get a vta dv you'll soon get sick of the sound of it (trust me). The k&n makes enough noise on its own. Plenty of good mobile mappers about on here also JGM, bob r and dynamix to name a few

or leave the std one on as an aftermarket dv will at best not make it run rubbish but at worst introduce lots of other issues on your spec.

am often up that way mapping

Looks almost exactly the same as my JDM mate. Lovely looking car obviously . I have owned a few impreza's. Definately found the blobeye to be the most entertaining. Always get a buzz when I sit in the seat and see that big scoop in front of me. And before anyone says it....yes, i'm single lol!!!
