Default CAI vs standard set up

Hi all, after finding the cone filter to be manky behind my arch liner today I was wondering the following....

Replace cone filter and keep cold air intake ( I think scoobyclinic may have fitted the intake when the car was mapped to 332bhp a few years back)

Or

Get hold of standard air box setup and put a cosworth panel filter in or similar

Car is a blob eye STI with scoobyclinic dyno printout for 332bhp as above, would reverting back to standard setup cause any headaches?

Cheers

Mick

Personally, with that set up at that power I would stick with the standard air box with a performance pannel filter.

Would only change to induction setup if i was running a fmic / bigger power.

much simpler to replace the cone filter, going from standard airbox to caik caused running problems for me, reversing it may or may not be an issue.

If you go back to standard air box you my need a map tweak if it has been mapped with the CAI.

This is what I was wondering, I've just looked through the paperwork and it was fitted along with 3" decat and then mapped by scoobyclinic, I'll give them a ring in the mornin and see if they have a suitable replacement cone filter

Cheers

My car ran 344 hp with a standard air box and K&N pannel filter on scooby clinics dyno, I have it in the garage if you want to buy a box and filter as i now run a RCM setup?

Right folks, this is getting pretty tedious now

Can anyone recommend from actual experience which filter would be suitable to use in my inner wing, has to have a 70mm/3" internal neck dia.

I'm struggling to find a filter which will fit the 70mm piping which is rated to my bhp.

I would have just changed back to air box setup but scooby clinic also thought that would require a map tweek, I can't afford and don't have time for this at the minute so its not an option.

They also wanted 55 quid for an unbranded filter delivered which seemed excessive, don't get me wrong the lad said they use them on their high power cars so the price may well be justified from the results they've achieved but at the time I was thinking a k&n etc would be cheaper so it put me off.

Would I be best off cutting my pipe work a bit shorter inside the wing and fitting a bigger filter than what was on to get one rated to my bhp? Would a bigger filter need a map adjustment?

Appreciate any input

Cheers

Its going to get dirty in the inner wing, there is no helping that but you are best going back to the standard setup, its capable of far more than your car is pushing at the moment and you wont get it covered in crap

Hi Mark

Do you running FMIC or do you running TMIC?

This filter should be OK for yours and will be enough for future mods

Hey jura, thanks for taking the time to put the link up I've bought a green filter which seemed to have the best flow rate for the size of filter as a stop gap until I can get the bits together ready for a bit more power.

Thanks again
