Default Model confusion/help

Currently looking to buy a wrx blob eye.

I thought that they were all 226bhp. I have since found that some are only 216bhp?

Is this correct and if so how do I see for differences and is there difference internals that are different? (that could prevent big power later on)

No blob wrx can withstand "big power".... 350ish is about as far as you should go with one.

All are 226bhp and 2.7 tons.

To be honest with you mate if your looking to tune it up when buying one, then go for an STI, stronger internals, 6 speed gearbox and isn't too much to tune them up either, im not sure but i believe the std blob wrx are around 240-260bhp, mines running 323bhp & 340lbs torque with full exhaust and panel filter, with an ecutek map, and mines a sti uk spec blobeye, the wrx are nice cars to have aswell the suspension isnt that hard and do cost alot more if your gonna want more power over 300bhp for example, but thats what i decided at the time when i got mine was to go for an STI, rather the std WRX.

I thought the blob WRXs had the same power? I think the classics 2000 and wrx were 215 uk and 226 import though?

But as above a blob WRX 350 power mark with mods

Blob wrx are 225ish bhp, same a bug. But at 2.7 tons the power to weight ratio is pretty poor.

Subaru rated their UK models in PS and for the Blob WRX 225PS rings a bell ..........

Horses for courses really and what you can afford.

Easy to get to 260 ish with non OEM equivalent of PPP, Small TD04 spools early so pretty quick off the mark in town.

Save up another grand then. Spending up to £6500 on a wrx is just crazy talk.

Id take a 80k mile sti over a 40k mile wrx every day of the week. Sti's come up cheap now all the time. My pal just sold a 2004 sti with 51k on the clock for £6500.

yeah, mines 1495kg but i like my creature comforts like cd/dvd player, leather & alcantara interior and i wouldn't even consider a car without aircon . It may be lardy like its owner but still does 0-60 in about 4 to 4.5 secs and a top end faster than i want to explore
Oh and that's a "forged" 2.5 if you don't mind

Im only pulling your pi55er mate, its a nice car you've got there. Like you say, plenty fast enough and still has a certain degree of luxury.

Spot on matty and thank for the complement There's always going to be something lighter or faster out there. Question is can you live with it day in day out. Mine is comfy enough i could go tour Europe if i could afford the petrol. Thats the plus side to a newage.

my recommendation would also be NOT to go for a wrx and get the STI model first time around you will only regret it later and thats just crazy money for a wrx, if i was looking a for nice looked after decent blob wrx would be looking to pay around the 4k mark tops and for a hawk wrx also a looked after one would be no more than 6k and for that would have to be a stunner, or as said you in to sti money anyway at that price
