WRX STI (1996) 99,000 miles?
Hi guys a bit of your expert knowledge required, So I am looking to get my first subaru and the above is available for around £2750 looks immaculate going to see it in an hour or so apparently its totally standard unabused as they all say.
Now my question is, its touching a hundred thousand miles should I leave it alone, would you leave it alone, is it going to be an endless pit of money OR should I get it and upgrade all pumps and injectors ( if required ) for peace of mind but then again if it has been thrashed ( I'm just assuming ) it would need a engine rebuild soon and that costs £££££
Plenty of wrx's around with fewer miles but not an sti as yet
What would you do?

do you really need an sti?
I bought a wrx 1996 for £1450 and its 260bhp... more than quick enough for near half the money...

Nope a wrx would be more than enough only this STI is close and I can't travel to far at the minute as the mrs off work with back trouble so I have to do all the taking and collecting kiddies from school etc.im from Cardiff and anything in South Wales would be feasible but they all seem to be MILES away,I'm no stranger to travelling to pick up a car but for the foreseeable future I'm going to find it very tricky.

Just done a hip check and the mileage is coming back as 'unclear' and gives no figure, guy reckons he bought it 6 months ago and hasn't used it since September hence reason for sale, sounds iffy to me

So I just checked on vosa website, first mot in uk was a pass but on the same day it stated the following 23/08/2008
' on 24/01/2008 no registration mark was recorded, following an investigation the reg N243 *** was given ' also it has mileage of 61,218 so would it have been on approx 98521 kilometres right ??????
Am I right in thinking it was imported around that time and the mileage was Transferred over to miles ?
Cheers
